**Position Scope**

The Field Safety Manager is primarily responsible for building and enforcing a safety culture at FPS. The Safety Manager will recommend a strategic direction and implement plans based on recent safety audit results, and will ensure that our policies and programs meet legislated requirements. Responsibilities will include training employees in safety management best practices, assisting with hazard identification and the development of safe work procedures, identifying, developing and delivering safety training supplements, providing day-to-day guidance and advice. The Field Safety Manager will also be responsible for providing field support for the safety requirements of significant projects in North America and around the globe.

**Main Responsibilities**
- Establish and implement onsite safety practices, policies and plans of the company
- Monitor and ensure onsite safety for FPS employees, contractors and sub-contractors
- Provide necessary training, leadership, organization and control to meet the company's goal of zero accidents
- Accept full authority to take any necessary action to maintain overall safe practices and procedures, including the authority to cease an unsafe operating procedure
- Implement information flow and data publications to ensure each level of management is properly informed of all activities relative to compliance with company safety policies and bulletins
- Ensure all tools, machinery and equipment in the workplace are in compliance with safety and fire regulations and any other regulations
- Instruct workers and monitor performance
- Audit all onsite activities and track safety near-misses and incidents
- Observe equipment and property conditions and report discrepancies to appropriate managers
- Orientation of new employees with onsite safety instruction including, but not limited to Dangerous Goods, WHMIS, driver, warehouse, and maintenance personnel education
- Monitor and measure the effectiveness of all safety programs and documentation required as part of compliance with the National Safety Code
- Develop a team from within the company to ensure safety and compliance are observed at all levels
- Develop manuals, policies, and procedures for training and safe work practices to be approved by the Safety Manager and then implemented
- Conduct accident investigations as necessary to assist with liability determination and causation, including resolution of open claims
- File requests for accident evaluations, ensuring unpreventable accidents are recorded as such wherever applicable
- Observe all company rules, policies and procedures with regards to quality control, -Occupational Health and Safety, etc.

**Qualification & Skills**
- Bachelors Degree in a relevant field with minimum 5 years experience as a Safety Manager
- CRSP or CHSC designation preferred
- Experience in research, analysis, interpretation and implementation of safety regulations, standards, and best practices as they pertain to food processing equipment operations
- Understand and have complete knowledge of all Federal, Provincial rules and regulations pertaining to safety codes and Occupational Health and Safety rules
- Direct experience assessing training needs, creating training materials to fulfill those needs, and then delivering the training
- Excellent at creating high quality presentations using a variety of technologies (e.g. Microsoft Teams, WebEx, Microsoft PowerPoint, etc.)
- Advanced written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate with individuals
- Demonstrated ability to train, coach, evaluate, and improve others

**Working Conditions**
