Preclinical Research Assistant

Biospective is seeking a detail-oriented and thorough Preclinical Research Assistant to assist in the conduct of preclinical research studies.
**Description**
The Preclinical Research Assistant primarily manage, organize, review (Quality Control) and reconcile large amounts of preclinical study imaging data, and resolve queries for neuroimaging studies. In addition, the responsibilities include the development and maintenance of study-related material and the conduct of other study-related activities while ensuring compliance with Biospective procedures, quality assurance requirements, and Good Practices. Reporting to Project Leaders, the Preclinical Research Assistant will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team of research scientists, data managers and IT professionals in a high-paced and stimulating environment. This is an entry-level position.
Tasks related to this position:
- Importing digital scanned images scans of fixed stained slides to the data management system
- Processing imaging data through proprietary software developed for qualitative and quantitative analysis of the imaging data
- Identifying areas of the images of neural tissues as described in the protocols
- Reporting data and communicating study progress and issues to the Study Directors
- Identifying and reporting technical limitations of the process
- Other duties as assigned by the manager(s)
**Requirements**:
- DEC and/or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant life sciences or health care discipline
- Good communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong technical acumen
- Ability to work independently, without immediate supervision, and as part of a team
- Ability to remain motivated when performing repetitive tasks
- Motivated to learn new technical skills and gain scientific knowledge
- Demonstrated flexibility to deal with changing priorities and multiple tasks
**Assets**
- Knowledge of the Linux operating system, Microsoft Office and Google apps
- Basic knowledge of nervous system and anatomy
- Experience working with biological imaging data
- Basic knowledge of Preclinical Research
- Solution-oriented with proactive approach to issues
- Working knowledge of French, spoken and written
