Position: Specialist - SEA, Special Education Services

Salary Range: Band 8 - $ 98,286.00 - $117,206.00

Location: New Street Education Centre

Work Schedule: 35 hours/week, 12 months/year

Position Summary:
The SEA Specialist is responsible for providing leadership and proactively designing service delivery models for all technology and mobility based SEA Equipment. They are responsible for the Board’s approach to managing the processes related to purchasing, data retention, and Ministry reporting as per the Ministry SEA Guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develops proactive strategies and builds collaborative relationships with multiple departments and all schools regarding efficient process development and implementation, and for developing all business processes and workflows associated with the SEA Portfolio.
- Supervisor for SEA Analyst and delegates workflows and ticketing processes related to SEA technology.
- Collaborates with Information Services regarding technology requirements, inventory, ticketing, and privacy requirements
- Responsible for claim submissions, budget monitoring, inventory control and management, and SEA Ministry reporting.
- Collaborate with school-based staff regarding processes related to claims, purchasing, SEAit workflows, ticketing, and equipment transfer.
- Manage, participate in and implement system initiatives regarding technology acquisition and testing, purchasing, accounting, and school based tasks.
- Approves and manages claim submissions for access to SEA funding
- Collaborates with IPL staff and Assistive Technology Lead staff regarding approvals for claim submissions
- Collaborates with School Based Rehabilitative Services/Erin Oak Kids OT’s/PT’s, and HDSB PSSP staff regarding equipment allocation, and student assessment documentation
- Manages equipment repair and annual inspections for school-based mobility equipment
- Designs and implements data collection processes and strategies, communicates processes to schools and department teams

Qualifications:

- Minimum Requirements:

- 5 years of related experience, Preferred
- Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work independently with mínimal direct oversight or supervision
- Demonstrated ability to lead and make analytical decisions, and work in an environment with confidentiality
- Demonstrated ability to be functional lead on software platforms
- Demonstrated initiative and innovation in designing and providing service delivery
- Effective oral and written communication skills to update helpdesk logs and the writing of technical documents
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to self-manage and maintain strong communication with colleagues
- Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to set priorities are mandatory
