Maintenance Skilled Trades

As the maintenance skilled trades, you will report to the maintenance manager. In your role, you will work within the facility to troubleshoot, repair, and install both electrical and mechanical equipment.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITY
- Work closely with the maintenance manager to ensure that the day to day maintenance needs of the operation are met and together develop and implement an effective preventative maintenance program
- Future possibilities may include coordinating the day to day maintenance/repair needs within the greenhouse operation from both an electrical and mechanical perspective (work with the maintenance manager to develop an action plan)
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical/mechanical issues with packaging equipment and general facility electrical needs
- Electrical wiring of new bunkhouses, offices, and other new construction projects as required
- Ensure all equipment receives the required preventative maintenance
- Ensure equipment, tools, and spare parts are kept tidy and organized
- Provide recommendations of upgrades/improvements for production equipment and the facility
- Ensure that adequate inventory of material/supplies are available to support routine maintenance needs
- Coordinate and provide assistance to sub-contractors as required
- Must have a high level of ingenuity to support the optimization of greenhouse equipment
- Has a good working knowledge in electrical, automation, and possess mechanical skills in order to carry out general farm maintenance (plumbing, carpentry, welding, etc.)
- Strong verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills are required
- Must have the ability to not only work independently, but also in a team environment with our growers and maintenance team
- Must have valid ticket in a maintenance trade
- Required to be in an on-call rotation
- Some early mornings or late days are required to complete equipment maintenance of production equipment
- Responsible for maintaining greenhouse equipment (scissor carts, robotic sprayers, etc.) and greenhouse structure (glass, vent window repairs, heating pipe leveling, leak repair, etc.)
- May be required to do shift work and must be willing to travel to all facilities.

FOOD SAFETY
- Ensure compliance of overall CanadaGAP food safety program by being a good example
- Keep food safety forms up to date throughout the year
- Ensure to always wear gloves when handling the product
- Ensure to always wash and disinfect hands after each break

SAFETY, SECURITY, BIOSECURITY
- Every Truly Green Farms employee has the right to feel safe and secure while working
- Properly and regularly uses all safety equipment
- Only operates equipment if properly trained or as required by applicable laws
- Follows safety procedures when cleaning/handling equipment and tools
- Follows the scissor cart operating procedures
- Follow the biosecurity protocols. Always enter the building through the boot-scrubber
- Reports all accidents, unsafe conditions, security incidents to management

ATTENDANCE
- Scheduling has been established to ensure that the farm is able to meet the production needs. When an employee is late or does not show up, it is difficult for the remaining staff to carry out their functions properly.
- Arrives at the farm prepared to work for the scheduled starting time
- Works productively through the ending time of the assigned shift
- Follows all break/meal period rules and time off requirements
- Minimizes absences/tardiness; follows appropriate call-in/call-off procedures

APPEARANCE
- Wears the uniform designated for their position
- Wears safety shoes as outlined in the uniform policy
- Keeps hair clean and properly restrained and in a hairnet if working on the pack line
- Maintains a neat, clean, and professional personal appearance

TEAMWORK
- The systems we have set up on the farm make is necessary for employees to work together.
- Works together with other team members to provide the best possible produce
- Displays and maintains positive behaviours toward job and company
- Helps to create a positive, harassment-free work environment
- Carries out duties assigned and willingly helps other employees when necessary
- Reacts positively when asked to perform a special task or assignment
