**ROLE **OVERVIE**W**
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Training Supervisor to join our team in Sudbury, Ontario. As a Training Supervisor in metal and non-metal mining operations, you will play a vital role in ensuring the competency and safety of our operations and maintenance crews. This position will involve overseeing crew trainers/mentors, coordinating training programs, managing documentation, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
**KEY **RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Supervise and mentor crew trainers/mentors on the operations and maintenance crews.
- Develop and implement comprehensive training programs for operators and maintenance employees, including new hires, refreshers, and ongoing skill development.
- Ensure all training programs meet legislative requirements and industry standards.
- Manage and maintain accurate documentation of training records, certifications, and compliance requirements.
- Oversee the verification of competency (VOC) for all operators and maintenance employees.
- Facilitate the use of Thiess Learning Management System (LMS) for training administration and record-keeping.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to identify training needs and develop customized training solutions.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to training and development.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and identify areas for improvement.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the training team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
**REQUIRED** **SKILLS**
- Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role in the mining industry, with a focus on training and development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and motivate employees at all levels.
- Proven organizational and project management abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Demonstrated high level of analytical ability and ability to problem solve.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve results within a team environment with mínimal supervision at times.
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize
- High level of attention to detail and excellent follow-up skills
- Solid understanding of business professionalism and the ability to work in a team environment
- Mining or heavy industrial construction experience considered an asset
- Excellent planning, leadership, organization and communication skills.
- Ability to communicate and interact within all levels of the organization.
- Ability and willingness to work different schedule on site based on project needs
- Post-high school training in a related area
**JOB REQUIREMENTS**
- Solid understanding of metal and non-metal mining operations and maintenance processes.
- Proficiency in using learning management systems (LMS) and other training administration tools.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and industry standards related to training and safety.
- Technical expertise: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations
- Listens and seeks confirmation of understanding
- Effectively responds well to questions
- Authorization to work lawfully in the USA without sponsorship from Thiess is required
- Must be fluent in the English language
- Authorization to work lawfully in the Canada without sponsorship from Thiess is required
**EDUCATION**
- Minimum five years of heavy equipment operating experience (shovels, loaders, dozers, blades, and haul truck)
- Minimum one year of site training experience.
