**Youth Crime Prevention Coordinator**

**Full Time 35 Hours Per Week**

**Term - June 3, 2025 - March 31, 2027**

**Wage: $33.00/hour**

**SUMMARY OF FUNCTION**:
The Youth Crime Prevention Coordinator takes a leadership role within the Town Sylvan Lake and Red Deer County communities to develop and implement a 2-year Youth Crime Prevention program that focuses on the direct delivery of crime prevention services and/or supports for youth ages 12 to 24 who are at high risk of becoming involved, or have been involved, in offending behaviors (theft, violence, vandalism, etc.). Programs must incorporate promising practices around prevention, intervention and diversion and build in protective factorsthat foster youth development in community, creativity, education and training, health and mental health, life skills and personal empowerment, relationships and/or the workplace.
- Build relationships with agencies including RCMP, Municipal Enforcement, Youth Justice Committee, Victim Services, Parole, schools etc. as well as community-based programs and services to build a client referral base
- Align and connect the crime prevention project into other regional work, with a lens towards sustainability
- Participate in appropriate Community of Practice(s) to learn and share best practices
- Support the Crime Prevention Worker in the social prescribing model to with project deliverables (training, community engagement, program delivery, referral processes)
- Develop policies, procedures, and program outlines that align with the project outcomes.
- Support data collection, collation, and analysis as per the ACP evaluation report
- Promote the program to potential stakeholders in the community
- Complete an assessment of needs for youth accessing the Crime Prevention program

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
- Diploma or degree in Social Work, Justice Studies, Addictions and Mental Health, Child & Youth Work, or equivalent
- 3-5 years of related experience working in a community-based youth program, or equivalent
- Proven expertise in building relationships with community organizations
- Experience facilitating discussions with key stakeholders and other community organizations
- Awareness of current youth issues
- Knowledge of community and justice resources available to support youth

Contract length: 22 months

Pay: $33.00 per hour

Licence/Certification:

- Class 5 Alberta Drivers License (required)
- RCMP Based Vulnerable Sector Check (required)

**Location**:

Willingness to travel:

- 50% (required)
