We are currently recruiting for a permanent R5 Senior Shipper/Receiver for our facility in Kanata, Ontario, Canada.

**Responsibilities**:
The Shipper/Receiver:

- Handles packages of radioactive waste in accordance with established practices, following the guidelines as provided by the waste disposal site administrators.
- Communicates with AECL-CRL Waste Management Operations and Isotope Processing Facilities for waste disposal and shipping requirements.
- Performs prescribed testing of the returnable shipping containers dedicated towaste shipments and reusable packaging used for shipments of radioactive material.
- Must have a thorough understanding of the waste streams from all of the products and interact with the Process Technicians and Monitor and Decontamination.
- Services team to ensure sufficient waste disposal and product shipping containers are available.
- Loads trucks with outgoing waste shipments.
- Maintains records of all waste shipments using both manual and data.
- Processing systems. Uses Microsoft Excel or other appropriate programs to track the decay schemes of the various processes.
- Operates heavy duty hoists, slings, rigs and lift trucks and keeps them in good working order.
- Responsible for housekeeping.
- Performs other related duties as appropriate to this level.

**Qualifications**:

- Secondary school diploma.
- 4 - 5 years of experience in shipping/receiving, with some experience working with radioactive shipments.
- Must be reliable and self-motivated.
- Must be knowledgeable of licensing requirements for radioactive shipments and receipts.
- Must be capable of using, and interpreting the results of radiation detecting instruments.
- Must be familiar with computer operation for accurate and timely data entry.
- Must know all quality control procedures re shipping containers and be able to carry out and interpret the test results.
- Must be knowledgeable of safety procedures for handling radioactive materials in order to assess hazards and take appropriate action.
- Must be able to communicate well orally and maintain neat records.
- Must exhibit good judgement, mental alertness, dependability and the ability to cooperate with others.
- Must be able to perform routine calculations with respect to radioactivity.

**_Additional Requirements:_**
- Lift up to 10kgs on a frequent basis.
- Wear a respirator.
- Successful completion of a vision screening and hearing test.
- Working in cleanroom is required.
- Working at heights or in confined spaces are required.
