Fresh Start Foods Canada Ltd. was founded in 1993 to provide Foodservice Customers with a fresh alternative. An outstanding supply network, efficient distribution through our three regional locations, and our thoroughly modern processing plant are all part of our commitment to provide the freshest fruits and vegetables possible.

We are currently seeking a full time Buyer to join our team, based in our Milton, Ontario location.

Description of Role:
The Buyer has overall responsibility for assisting in the purchasing related activity within the Company. The Buyer role is a hands-on purchasing professional who spends quality time in the trade and has great produce, knowledge in addition to understanding logistics and transport.
In conjunction with the Purchasing manager, the Buyer will purchase and negotiate with current and similar aligned vendors across North America and globally. The Buyer will contribute to the development and execution of the overall purchasing strategy to ensure our partners are competitive in the marketplace.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- FOB buying of produce as well all related categories.
- Grow existing business within our established sales team.
- Ensure the overall quality, food safety and GMPs are being achieved by our suppliers
- Manage long term contracts.
- Review market trends and provide updates.
- Brokering of Freight for all inbound loads.

Customer Relationship Management:

- Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
- Visit supply chain (growers, farmers, distributors) to review program compliance.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

- Specific produce or foodservice related experience ( preferred)
- Post Secondary Education (College Diploma or University Degree) with an emphasis/specialization in Purchasing or Business Administration. (preferred)
- 1-2 years of relevant purchasing (preferably in a produce, food processing or distribution/logistics environment).
- Excellent leadership, organizational, multi-tasking and presentation skills.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
