The Regularized Relief Team (RRT) is a team of RNs, LPNs, HCAs and support staff who are cross trained within the surgical and medical portfolios at PLC and offers the opportunity for collaboration and for personal and professional development within a variety of teams. This RRT Health Care Aide position provides coverage to the Surgical/Medical units at PLC. You will provide patient care services as a regulated worker by CLPNA (College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta) under the supervision of a RN, RPN or LPN. You will provide patient and family centred care and perform tasks related to activities of daily living and other specific procedures on the nursing unit. Heavy lifting and repetitive movements are necessary during the course of performing duties on these units. You will have the unique opportunity to work in a collaborative care service delivery model (CoAct). You will demonstrate: decision making, problem solving, critical thinking and conflict resolution skills; interpersonal and communication skills; time management and prioritization in a rapidly changing environment; initiative and independence; patient and family centered care principles within own nursing practice; the ability to build/maintain collaborative relationships with the interdisciplinary team and to foster positive relationships in a team environment. Description:
As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a collaborative member of the multi-disciplinary team providing personal assistance including supporting activities of daily living and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. In this position you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities assisting nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation and safety needs, assisting with organized activities or programs and observing and reporting on a patient's mood, health, and wellbeing. Working under a regulated health professional you will be assisting in the maintenance of a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors, and maintaining effective communication with patients and health professionals.
