**The opportunity**:
The University of Manitoba is seeking an Inuit Youth Program Coordinator. This role aims to strengthen community partnerships to enrich student learning and promote success by broadening the knowledge base. The Inuit Youth Program Coordinator will be responsible with creating and developing Inuit specific science camps and a practical program that integrates learning outcomes rooted in Inuit scientific knowledge, while also fostering connections with the University.
**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:
PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO INDIGENOUS CANDIDATES. APPLICANTS MUST SELF-DECLARE ON THEIR COVER LETTER OR RESUME AS INDIGENOUS (FIRST NATIONS, MÉTIS, AND/OR INUIT).
- Undergraduate degree or program certificate is preferred, preferably in the sciences or social sciences dealing with community development, community engagement, youth wellbeing, the ocean, Earth (including geography), environment, biological sciences, or related fields
- Special consideration will be made for qualified Indigenous applicants who do not meet preferred minimum formal education/training.
- Valid driving license is required.
- Three years of relevant work experience is required.
- Significant experience in northern or Arctic, planning, design, implementation, and reporting required.
- Experience or knowledge of research proposal development, and research program coordination and management, field planning, with experience managing equipment, budgets and research support personnel required.
- Experience working with Inuit youth, Elders, knowledge keepers and commitment to the engagement of young people in research required.
- Familiarity with University of Manitoba policies and procedures are seen as an asset.

- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Must be team player with a keen interest in promoting research, outreach, and knowledge mobilization related to environmental research in the Arctic and/or subarctic Arctic System Science.
- Strong organization skills are required.
- Good presentation and writing skills required.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently, able to take initiative.
- Flexibility and creativity is required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team required.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
