**Job Description**: **About MRU**: Founded in 1910 and located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Mount Royal University grew into a vibrant college in the 1930s and became a mid-sized university in 2009. Mount Royal has carved out a distinct niche by offering smaller class sizes, a robust liberal education and unique undergraduate programs. Currently, more than 14,000 credit students choose from 12 bachelor degrees and 35 majors. Mount Royal University is located in the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of the Treaty 7 region in southern Alberta, which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut'ina and the Iyarhe Nakoda. We are situated on land where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. The traditional Blackfoot name of this place is "Mohkinstsis," which we now call the city of Calgary. The city of Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation. **About the Faculty of Science and Technology**: Mount Royal’s Faculty of Science and Technology offers Bachelor’s Degrees in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Environmental Science, Geology, and General Science which allow students to prepare for a variety of exciting careers in science and technology by not only teaching them the basics of science but also how to be flexible and innovative problem-solvers. The Department of Chemistry and Physics offers a Bachelor of Science, Chemistry, as well as minors in Astronomy, Chemistry and Physics. **About the Role**: **Name of Course: ASTR 1103** **Days & Times Offered: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 8:30-9:20 am and 1:30-2:20 pm** **Course Description**: **Credit(s): 3** **Lecture Hour(s): 3** **Lecture Hours Schedule Type: Lecture** This is primarily a descriptive course aimed at non-science students. Conceptual understanding will be stressed over strict mathematical derivation. The topics covered in this course emphasize larger-scale astronomy. Topics include the lives and deaths of stars, supernovae, pulsars, the Milky Way and other galaxies, active galaxies and quasars, and cosmology. **Note**: Only one of ASTR 1103 and ASTR 1303 can be used for graduation purposes. This course cannot be used as a General Science Option. GNED Cluster 1 - Tier 2 **Responsibilities**: - Instruction: course delivery including preparation of course outline, course activities, lesson preparation and assessments, and course D2L site; and - Administration: submit course attendance sheets, course outline signature forms, input final grades upon course completion, and participate in scheduled program meetings. **Qualifications**:
