**Skills Enhancement and Volunteer Program with PICS Intercultural Youth Service Corps**
**(IYSCorps) and Intercultural Youth Microgrant Service Corps (IYMSCorps)**
**Position Title**:Volunteer Participant
**Location**: Virtual/Hybrid
**Eligibility Criteria**:
- Age 15-29
- BC Resident
- Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Refugee Status
**Perks**:

- Reference letters from the Government of Canada
- 120 volunteer hours minimum
**Program Overview**: PICS Intercultural Youth Service Corps (IYSCorps) and Intercultural Youth
Microgrant Service Corps (IYMSCorps) offer exciting and empowering opportunities for youth
aged 15-29. Our programs provide participants with valuable skills, hands-on experience, and a
chance to make a positive impact on their communities. We are actively recruiting for our
upcoming November and December cohorts.
**What’s in it**:
**IYSCorps Program (17-week Program)**:
- Attend 5-week essential skills training VIRTUAL workshops (4:30-6:30pm, 3 days a
week)
- Gain essential life skills, including resume writing, financial literacy, leadership, public
speaking, stress management, project managament, and more
- Participate in youth-led, government-funded community projects
- Choose personalized volunteer placements or community-driven projects
- Receive a microgrant of $1,000 to design a project
- Receive a minimum of 120 volunteer hours
**IYMSCorps Program**:
- Participate in a program that offers larger microgrants of up to $3,000 for community
- driven projects
- No requirement to complete the 5-week skills training
- Receive 120 volunteer hours
- Access additional program benefits
**Previous Participant Project Examples**:
- Put together care kits for children at the hospitals
- Create a magazine to raise awareness on climate change
- Organize an ethnic cooking class to promote cultural inclusivity
- Organize a workshop on mental health
- Create a magazine for elementary school children to teach them the basics of coding
and raise their interest in the tech industry
