Human Resources Generalist

The Human Resources Generalist position will provide support and services to the leadership team and staff relating to all programs within the organization. This is a full-time permanent position located in the Jerry Forbes Centre and reports directly to the Executive Director. You must live in the Edmonton Albera region and be able to commute to all of our operating locations in Edmonton.

Community Options is a non-profit organization that has been providing quality education, childcare, and inclusive developmental supports to children and their families within the greater Edmonton area for more than 45 years. The Human Resources Generalist plays a key role in supporting the organization in these domains and will prioritize work to ensure adequate support to all program staff and initiatives.
The role of the Human Resources Generalist is a multi-faceted position that provides strategic, operational, and administrative support to the organization including the Executive Director, Leadership team and all staff within the organization. In addition, the Human Resources Generalist will demonstrate and promote professional and objective interactions between all Community Options personnel. As the role of the Human Resources Generalist is to support the needs of the organization, this role will deliver adaptable, resilient, and flexible solutions assisting Community Options to reach the operational requirements and deliver the mission and vision of the organization.

**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**
**Administration and Office Supports**
- Provide proactive administrative support to the organization, while always reflecting Community Options’ mission and vision within HR processes and practices.
- Maintain updated and accurate HR records for personnel files, including assisting with the tracking of mandatory training, clearance, and registration documentation.
- Maintain, revise and update Personnel Policies and Operations Manual and support the organization by providing relevant information to team members at staff meetings, orientation sessions and throughout the year as required.
- Source information pertaining to HR best practices, and ensure policies, documentation and information is revised in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety Legislation, Employment Standards and Human Rights legislation.
- Assist with development and enhancement of processes for employee performance monitoring and evaluation.
- Accurately create and revise forms, memos, and letters, as requested.
- Continuously improve HR processes and procedures.
- Complete HR administrative tasks and projects, in support of the organization’s effectiveness and other duties as assigned.
**Recruitment and Onboarding**
Support Program Directors in full cycle recruitment practices:
Assist new employee hiring process including initial onboarding of the employee:
- Facilitate initial clearance documentation for new employees.
- Set up and maintain personnel files and documentation, including onboarding paperwork, clearance, and training documentation.
- Request fob for office employees and set up initial IT credentials/network access.
- Onboarding and communication of standards to Program Directors and youth hired.
- Completion of the CSJ grant documentation, reconciliation and survey process.
**Benefits Administration**
- Act as Plan Administrator and handle all aspects of staff benefits including, but not limited to, employee inquiries, enrolments, terminations, salary changes, management of disability claims and return to work programs.
- Liaise with Benefits Consultant and Group Insurance Representatives and partake in review of plan provisions and communicate changes to the Leadership team and employee groups.
- Liaise with Banking Client Service Representatives and assist with review of RRSP/GTFSA plan details and communication with employee groups.
- Process RRSP/GTFSA plan enrolments with employees and forward proper documentation to payroll.
- Coordinate and administer WCB claims, return to work programs and related functions. Assist in monitoring claims and participate in best practices relating to WCB premiums.
**Organizational Responsibilities**
- Handle internal and external inquiries and ensure prompt response to requests.
- Foster an environment that builds positive organizational culture and staff engagement through various strategies.
- Attend staff, operational and Board meetings as requested by the Executive Director, Leadership team, and/or Board of Directors.
