Job description

**Position Overview**:

- Maintain a safe environment, overseeing the safety, health and well-being of children creating an inclusive culture.
- Oversee student safety, anticipate and prevent issues during activities including: homework, snack, and during transitions of students to and from after school martial arts program to after school activities.
- Set up, make recommendations, implement and supervise age-level appropriate activities.
- Plan and recommend a variety of activities incorporating cognitive games, arts, crafts and group activities for students.
- Establish collaborative relationships with co-workers and supervisors.
- Keep accurate account of daily attendance, logs, accident and incident reports.
- Maintain and initiate keeping the environment organized secure with and at a high standard of cleanliness and sanitation.
- Follow all safety protocols and closing procedures.
- Open to working additional hours during the periods of March Break, Summer Break and PD days.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of CoVid-19 safety procedures and protocols.

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum secondary school education
- Post secondary education in a related field an asset.
- At least 2 year experience in a child care environment.
- Experience with children between the ages of 4-12 years of age an asset.
- Strong verbal and written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with special needs children an asset.
- Experience running camp programs or camp counselling an asset.
- ECE qualification an asset (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Criminal background check with vulnerable sector screening.

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: $18.00 per hour
