**Translation Editor, Japanese Language Service - Temporary Contract**

**This hybrid TEMPORARY position will be based in Toronto, Canada. Other locations will also be considered.**

With global affairs shifting more rapidly than ever before, demand for international news is on the rise. As **Translation Editor (Japanese Language Service)**, you will be instrumental in bringing global news to Reuters' Japanese-speaking audiences. This is a challenging and rewarding job to swiftly deliver wide-ranging, potentially market-moving news from every corner of the world in an increasingly fast-paced news cycle. It will require sharp news judgment, a broad perspective and quick decision-making.

**About the Role**

As **Translation Editor, Japanese Language Service** (Temp)** at **Reuters**, you will:

- Select news from Reuters bureaus around the world with accurate judgment and turn it into Japanese quickly and concisely for our readers.
- Edit machine-translated English-to-Japanese articles for accuracy, speed, and clarity.
- Evaluate the machine-translated translation and provide feedback on areas for improvement.
- Work collaboratively with a range of global stakeholders.
- Engage in other editorial work as needed.

**About You**

To be our next **Translation Editor, Japanese Language Service (Temp)**, you will likely have:

- At least two years' experience as an editor or translator (English to Japanese).
- High interest in establishing a new translation method using machine translation.
- Knowledge of the economy and financial markets, interest in a wide range of topics.
- Ability to work well in a team.
- English verbal communication skills.
