In accordance with the Administrative and Professional Officer Agreement, this full-time continuing position offers a comprehensive benefits package found on our Benefits Overview page and annual salary range of $65,348 - $108,916.
**Location**
This is a hybrid role with a mix remote and in-person at Enterprise Square.

**Position**
Reporting to the Director, HR Services within Shared Services, the Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) is accountable for providing consultative and advisory services to employees, faculties, departments and units with respect to recruitment and hiring practices in relation to immigration legislation. with respect to the recruitment and retention of foreign nationals and all other non-student immigration related matters.
The RCIC also provides consultative and advisory services to foreign staff members and visitors regarding immigration issues. As per Citizenship and Immigration Canada legislation, the incumbent is required to be a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) in order to provide immigration advice and/or representation to individuals.
**Duties**
- Identifies appropriate sections of immigration legislation, regulations and processes and utilizes them to: facilitate the entry of foreign nationals into Canada; mitigate risk to the University community and retain foreign nationals on a long-term basis.
- Works with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), Canada Border Services Agency, Employment and Social Development Canada, Alberta Health Services, College of Physicians and Surgeons, on resolving immigration related issues for foreign academic staff, potential academic staff and visitors to campus.
- Assists departments with the development and completion of Labour Market Impact Assessments (LMIAs).
- Provides consultative advisory services to faculties, departments and units with respect to recruitment and hiring practices in relation to immigration legislation.
- Prepare and provide required immigration letters templates for departments to facilitate the process of submitting work permits for inviting Canadian and foreign academic visitors.
- Consults with individual foreign nationals regarding their immigration status and associated requirements.
- Collaborates with various stakeholders and third party agencies to troubleshoot and find appropriate solutions or options on sensitive issues or case escalations.
- Advises and works collaboratively with other departments on campus related to immigration issues, such as University of Alberta International, Academic Visitor Office, and other units within Shared Services.
- Develops and implements procedures and processes to ensure compliance regarding the International Mobility Program (IMP) and the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP).
