**Job description**
Is your attention to detail and your amazing sewing skill afforded the highest respect? Would you enjoy working with the most beautiful, high quality fabrics and trims, producing extraordinary women's apparel? Elizabeth Valentine is a women's wear brand, crafting garments for the discerning, modern woman. Specializing in foundation and swimwear (we make the largest bra sizes available in the world) all the way to quality outerwear.
All aspects of garment-making are done in-house, including dyeing and digital art. Currently we have Monday - Friday daytime openings with flexible part time hours. Weekends may also be available.
Are you a Tier 1 Operator?
You are experienced with: single/double needle lockstitch, coverstitch, and serger machines. You know how to handle knits and wovens. You can change threads/needles, and use various folders, binders, and the other basic tools that go with these operations. You have basic skills in pressing, setting zippers, elastics, tape, and handling various types of pockets. You are familiar with basic hand stitching/tools. You can follow written and visual pattern guidelines but may need guidance or assistance from teammates from time to time.
Are you a Tier 2 Operator?
You can handle all of Tier 1 and in addition you can: properly set tension/stitch balance for these operations. You can do minor trouble-shooting if needed. You also know how to use strip cutter, zig zag machine, kick press, button hole/sew, bar tacking, flatlock, drills and cutting machines. You can follow patterns and can set all kinds of zippers, pockets and other garment components. You don't need a lot of guidance and can work independently. You offer support to Tier 1 operators if needed.
Are you a Tier 3 Operator? You have several years of experience in Tier 1 and Tier 2 operations. You are willing to work at all levels of garment construction, from beginning to completion. You work quickly and confidently with limited oversight. You can teach and supervise Tier 1 and Tier 2 operators, offering support and guidance when needed. You can troubleshoot issues on the floor, oversee quality, and keep production moving smoothly.
All teammates at all levels work together and learn new operations/tools. All operators may be asked to work on the table: handling patterns, cutting fabric/paper, etc. Everyone helps in sorting/organizing trims, fabrics and other garment components. All operators may be asked to support our in-house dyeing operations. All Tiers help keep work areas clean.
Although, English is the language used on the factory floor, we can communicate on a basic level in French and Russian. We also welcome deaf and hard of hearing applicants. We can learn together. We welcome applicants with limited English skills and provide language learning opportunities while working.
Must be legally allowed to work in Canada, perform a sewing test and complete a simple math quiz.
