Surrey, Canada Brasfield Builders Ltd. Full time

The Construction Safety Officer will be responsible for working with the Safety Manager and Site Superintendent to ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation. This role will include providing technical, administrative and site safety support in all aspects of construction, subtrade safety conduct, safety equipment, work process, regulation, training and site safety.

Must have both wood frame and concrete high-rise experience.

**DUTIES**:

- Ensure compliance with current Occupational Health & Safety Legislation and Company safety rules
- Liaise with Site Superintendents daily on health and safety-related matters
- Educate and guide Site Superintendents on safety best practices, OHS legislation and site-specific safety related matters
- Coach and guide management team, employees and subcontractors to ensure unsafe conditions are rectified
- Assist Site Superintendents with the completion of all required paperwork in a timely fashion
- Maintain subcontractor and MSDS documentation
- Be up to date on all activities at site operations; provide a positive safety role model and support
- Maintain safety standards with mínimal interruption to site operations
- Facilitate and participate in site inspections and implement corrective action as required
- Conduct follow-up with injured workers as necessary - including up to date documentation, action items and return to work programs
- Maintain up to date and accurate documentation and records for all injuries/illnesses in the First Aid Record Book
- Maintain up to date documentation for site safety records on the site (investigations, near misses, incidents)
- Forward all paperwork relating to safety infractions, incident/investigation reports, WorkSafe Inspection Reports to Head Office and Project Manager in a timely manner
- Assist with other duties as assigned upon completion of required site safety duties

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Minimum 2 years of experience in construction site safety, including residential projects
- Valid Occupational First Aid Level 2 (OFA 2) minimum - _OFA 3 preferred_
- Construction Safety Officer (CSO) certification
- TCP & Machine Operator tickets an asset
- Good understanding of construction processes
- Ability to work under pressure and resolve challenging situations in a professional manner
- Valid BC Driver’s License
- Solid understanding of Occupational Health & Safety legislation
- Ability to prioritize, delegate and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $22.00-$35.00 per hour
