This is a skilled position responsible for operational delivery of municipal ground maintenance, open space and outdoor recreational facilities and for the day-to-day supervision, training and direction of parks maintenance crews. Responsibilities also include the general maintenance of the outdoor ice maintenance program in the winter months. This position reports to the Parks Maintenance Supervisor or Crew Lead II.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Perform various skilled labour duties to maintain municipal grounds, open spaces, and recreational facilities. Assess health and condition of grounds and horticultural assets; recommend lifecycle repairs and restoration. Assist in developing the City of Regina’s equipment operator training program. Oversee and assist field trainers with field training activities. Operate and maintain a variety of vehicles, equipment, and tools for grounds and facility upkeep. Provide supervision, direction, and training to staff on equipment operation and grounds maintenance techniques. Prepare work schedules and assist in developing work plans for Parks Maintenance staff. Maintain inventory and prepare work orders for supplies, equipment, tools, and materials. Respond to inquiries from internal and external customers. Ensure compliance with quality and safety standards and departmental operational procedures. Serve as a certified field trainer. Evaluate, instruct, and examine equipment operators; certify or determine limitations as per the City’s Equipment Operating Training Program. Perform other related duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Grade 12 or equivalent education. Minimum of 6,000 hours of recent, practical experience in Parks and Open Space and outdoor recreational facility maintenance. Completion of at least one horticulture course or certificate required at time of posting. Experience in equipment maintenance in a garage environment is considered an asset.
WORKING / OTHER CONDITIONS
Must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license. Must be physically fit to perform the duties of the position.
