The city of Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation. **About Business and Retail Services**: Mount Royal University’s Business and Retail Services compliments the student and employee experience by providing a wide range of offerings to the University community including access to the Bookstore, Document Services, Parking and Transportation Services, Events and Conference Services, and Hospitality Services (Retail Food Service, Catering, Beverage and Snack Vending, and ATM banking). **About the Role**: The Bar Services Supervisor (BSS) is an integral part of the Event, Theatre and Hospitality Services team at MRU. The BSS will provide bar services administrative support including ordering/receiving, conducting inventory, setup and operation of all bar and concession services at Mount Royal University. The Bar Services Supervisor will provide team leadership and oversight for all services with a focus on patron and guest experience. The BSS will provide Bartender and bar support services at all large-scale performances and events where alcohol will be consumed. Typical service locations include the Taylor Centre for the Performing Arts, the Mount Royal Conference and Event Centre, Riddell Library and and other MRU event & gathering spaces The BSS will assist with hiring, training, scheduling and supervision of all bar staff with a goal of providing exemplary service in Mount Royal Venues. The Bar Services Supervisor will also oversee event and conference activity as a lead liaison to clients and vendors. This position is a casual role working 40 hours per week. **Responsibilities**: **Bar Operations and Staffing** - Recruiting, hiring and training of Casual Bartenders for ETHS bar services in all event and theatre venues and campus spaces - Determining bar staff requirements for each performance or event based on attendance and historical sales - Supervising and guiding bartenders in cooperation with Event & Client Liaisons for events and performances - Ensuring all bar equipment is set up properly, fully functional and working adequately - Inspecting and maintaining the payment processing system, inventory system and all bar equipment - Facilitating daily operations of all bars and concessions, such as ensuring the current liquor license, food license and business licenses are up to date, maintaining regular contact with suppliers, taking inventory and reordering supplies - Working on the floor during bar and concession services in a leadership role **Operational and Administrative Responsibilities** - Ordering, receiving and stocking all bar products, including cups, glasses, confections, coffee, cream and bar perishables, which requires the use of a personal vehicle - Maintaining a comprehensive inventory of all bar supplies and products and implementing proper rotation to ensure freshness and food safety - Use historic data in scheduling staff and bar services for each performance or event - Provide Bartender and Barback services at all large-scale performances and events where alcohol will be consumed - Oversee event and conference activity as a lead liaison to clients and vendors - Ensuring that pre-service counts match end of day inventories and receipts - Completing bar reconciliations and deposits in tandem with the Box Office - Reviewing monthly inventory with Sales & Hospitality Coordinator - Completing annual inventory for year-end purposes - Preparing remote bar equipment for service in various locations on MRU campus - Working on the floor during bar and concession services in a leadership role - Ensuring the safety and security of the bar equipment - Assisting Bartenders and Event & Client Liaisons where required **Qualifications**: - A minimum of 4-years experience as a Bartender or other related hospitality industry position (such as server) - Previous experience in roles such as Bar Coordinator, Bar Manager or Restaurant Manager would be considered an asset - Knowledge and experience setting up, running, stocking, restocking, and cleaning bars is considered an asset - Knowledge and experience with conducting inventories, ordering and rotating products
