**about the role**:
The Harm Reduction Programming Assistant for Women and Gender Diverse clients will work to: Facilitate broader low barrier access to harm reduction services for individuals who identify as women or gender diverse through integration into harm reduction groups across the centre.

**Tasks and responsibilities include**:
Supporting with Women In Need Klinik (WINK) and Hep C program; Development and implementation of a harm reduction kit packing group for women and gender diverse clients; Health education and health promotion for women and gender diverse clients who use drugs; Harm Reduction event planning/organizing.

**Supervision and mentoring plan**

The Harm Reduction Assistant will report directly to Sherbourne’s Health Bus and Harm Reduction Manager. Under their direction, the assistant will collaborate on a work plan for the duration of their employment at Sherbourne. Weekly status meetings will take place to provide supervision and guidance, and to monitor progress of the work plan.

**Skills development**
- **Client service**: Client service skills are developed as the assistant collaborates and works engages effectively with clients across Harm Reduction and the broader organization, with key stakeholders self-identifying as Women or Gender Diverse
- **Teamwork**: Teamwork skills are learned by working collaboratively with the Harm Reduction team, including the Peer Navigators, Health Bus, Women in Need, Harm Reduction Drop in and Hep C programs.
- **Communication**: Both written and verbal communications skills will be developed.
- **Digital skills**: Digital skills are enhanced by development and training in the use of our Electronic medical record systems.

**Health and Safety**

Health and Safety training is an important component of employment at Sherbourne. The staff person will complete the Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) online training modules which include topics on workplace violence and harassment, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), hand hygiene, emergency communication codes, and accessible customer service. The staff person will also complete Ministry of Labour Health and Safety training modules online.

Workplace hazards are listed in an SDS (Safety Data Sheet) and binder that is accessible on each floor at Sherbourne Health.

Workshops on anti-oppression, diffusing anger and cultural competencies may also be available to the youth employee.
