**JOB PURPOSE**

The Business Services Leader - Finance position is responsible for the overall accountability for accounting within EQUS. The Business Services Leader - Finance will provide sound financial oversight to EQUS including the supervision of financial practice, policy implementation and monitoring of financial transactions and reports. This process includes reconciliation and internal controls.

**DUTIES**
- Manage the administration of EQUS’s finances as according to GAAP and as outlined in the organizational financial procedures.
- Develop and maintain the framework for appropriate procedures related to EQUS’s Financial Administration
- Review all financial records and ensure that monthly bank statements are balanced
- Ensure completion and accuracy of all monthly financial reconciliations including reporting and submissions
- Examine all financial statements for completeness, accuracy and conformance with accounting requirements
- Review and prepare regular reports on the organization’s investments
- Work with external auditors
- Values-Based Leadership, motivate, support and coordinate the work of accounting team members
- Establish position standards and remuneration, talent management
- Provide enhanced supervision for critical financial administration tasks
- Perform other duties as required by the VP - Business Services

**REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF WORK**

This position reports directly to the VP - Business Services

**JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS**
- Strong business acumen and ability to analyze complex business issues and develop effective and sustainable solutions.
- Strong leadership capabilities with a track record of coaching and mentoring employees
- Professional judgement and problem-solving skills
- Time management skills
- Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal)
- Familiarity with NetSuite would be considered an asset

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field; CPA designation is required.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in a financial management or accounting role.
- A minimum of five years of related leadership experience
- Familiarity with utilities industry and/or experience in the utility billing process
