**Position Details**:
**What Will You Do?**:

- Lead in the support of database systems, deployment, and usage standards.
- Provide leadership in ensuring all database and environmental changes are appropriately tested and implemented in such a manner that there is no impact to systems and clients.
- Provide database related technical support for development and production environment, which on occasion may include required level of 24x7 on call support.
- Define, develop and meet various SLAs for multiple database platforms used in the company.
- Improve and optimize database administration and management with coding and automation with a focus on the performance, high availability, reliability, and reduce TOIL using SRE practices.
- Build self-service and self-managing capabilities of our database as a service infrastructure.

**Required Experience**:

- 5+ years of proven working experience in Microsoft SQL Server technology and current on SQL Server releases (i.e. SQL Server 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019).
- In-depth technical knowledge of database servers and operating systems.
- Experience in providing L3/L4 support in troubleshooting SQL server performance related issues.
- Knowledge to analyze performance issue, identify tuning opportunities, implement improvements and advise developers on SQL Server.
- Intermediate knowledge maintaining multiple production and non-production SQL server instances.
- Experience automating routine DBA tasks using scripts or CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent communications skills working with a team with broad skillsets.
- An aptitude for learning and sharing new skills.

**Nice to Have**:

- Azure or GCP Cloud Environment experience.
- Some knowledge of containerization.
- Managing SQL server on containers (i.e. Docker, Kubernetes, etc).
- Experience with NoSQL Databases platforms such as CosmosDB.
- Knowledge of DevOps pipeline (i.e. utilizing git and JIRA).
- Coaching/mentoring skills.
- Attention to client focus and client service.
- Azure Dev Ops, General CI CD, Team Lead Experience, Project Management Experience.

**COVID-19 Considerations**:
This position would be entirely online during the pandemic and eventually be located in our Toronto office.
