Technical Test Manager

Job Function
The Test Manager will be responsible forleading the business and technical testing teams on the NOMS (Network Outage Management System) project.. They willprovide leadership, guidance, and technical expertise in the area of testing.
Specific Accountabilities
- Ability to define, review, and evaluate the testing approach and strategy across a program or multiple projects assigned.
- Build team alignment amongst staff, contractors, and vendor personnel with diverse backgrounds many of whom will be working together for the first time, during the duration of a project.
- Demonstrate business acumen by translating technical options into business objectives.
- Ability to evaluate emerging test design/strategies/practices
- Get involved in hands on testing where possible and needed.
- Demonstrates a strong drive and intellectual curiosity to investigate complex technical issues
- Ability to collaborate effectively with all team members and with cross-functional teams
- Ability to negotiate priorities and assure that testing issues are discussed and resolved
- Ability to review test coverage and propose solutions to increase test effectiveness
- Ability to diagnose complex issues and suggest testing strategies
- Ability to coach and propagate valuable testing practices within the team
- Extensive experience in managing a testing stream on complex projects
- Extensive experience in developing test plans, test strategies, test scenarios, test cases
- Write and review test cases
Technical Knowledge:
- BSc in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent
- At least 10 years of experience in testing and 5 years of experience in a lead or management position
- Extensive Experience creating test cases, plans, strategies, tracking, and reporting
- Extensive experience to create detailed testing resource plans
- Proven ability to accurately report test status and defect tracking
- Experience testing NOMS solution or similar technology
- Experience with Sun-Net Software considered an asset
- Experience with test automation tools
- Experience with tools such as HP ALM and Grip
- Knowledge and ability to communicate effectively regarding utilities infrastructure
Demonstrated Test Management Skills:
- Communication, creation, and evaluation of the testing processes to business and service providers
- Able to persuade, convince, influence, or impress others
- Initiative - takes action, proactively doing things and not simply thinking about future actions
- Information seeking - ability to acquire information relevant to the achievement of valued goals
- Team leadership - ability to take a role as leader of a team or other group
The contractor will be required to work on-site 2 - 5 times per week at the Markham office with at least once a week from the Barrie office.
**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months
