Team Lead of Youth Outreach Worker

Team Lead Plans, leads, executes, and manages the day to day operations of Youth Outreach Team and LEGIT (Leadership Engagement Gang Intervention Team), Enhanced Youth Outreach Worker, ATS/YITW workers in accordance with regulatory requirements, 360°kids’ policies, mission, and vision of the organization. Oversees a team of Outreach Workers and LEGIT Workers to deliver sound and innovative programming and care for at-risk youth. Conveys and demonstrates leadership style that supports a culture of inclusion and community capacity building. Reports to the Manager of Support Programs.
**Key responsibilities**:
- Responsible for the day-to-day organization and operation of the Outreach Team and LEGIT Team, and Enhanced Youth Outreach Worker, ATS/YITW workers.
- Work in consultation with Manager of Support Programs to select and facilitate activities aimed at achieving the desired outcomes as outlined in the operations plan.
- Works with the Manager of Support Programs to ensure that the program is in line with the stated mission and vision of the organization.
- Ensures that the Youth Outreach program and LEGIT Program, Enhanced Youth Outreach Worker, ATS/YITW workers and activities comply with applicable standards and laws.
- Provides direction to staff in terms of operations & programs, in accordance with the approved Strategic Plan of 360°kids.
- Ensures that appropriate policies, procedures, and methods are being utilized.
- Communicates the mission, values of 360°kids to employees, and other stakeholders.
- Along with the Manager of Support Programs, provides leadership for the program through team building and motivation of employees, manages for high performance and oversees plans for the training, development, and retention of staff to ensure ongoing competent, experienced and effective management of the programs.
- In consultation with the Manager of Support Programs hires and terminates staff for all program positions. Recruits and supervises volunteers and students.
- Develop and facilitate/encourage an organizational culture conducive to the achievement of 360°kids’ goals and objectives.
- Maintain a case load and conduct assessments and intake interviews with clients in a variety of locations such as low-income settings, parks, drop-in centers, public (e.g., on the sidewalk, in public squares, in parks and ravines, etc.), homeless and low-income service settings (e.g., hostels, drop-in centers, etc.) and institutional settings (e.g., hospitals, court houses, etc.) and assesses client’s functional, income, employment and housing status to determine program eligibility.
- Facilitate community collaboration with key partners towards the goal of building capacity for populations such as LGBTTQ, mental health, addictions, diversity councils, faith -based assemblies, education bodies, justice panels, police, and community committees.
- With the assistance of the Manager of Support Programs monitors the program’s finances and the development and implementation of actions plans, supports fund-raising, as needed, to improve financial performance.
- Provides reports and related information as required to the Manager of Support Programs, other designated organizations, and appropriate regulatory agencies and ensures staff completes mandatory recording and reporting.
- In the event of a crisis or critical incident, exercises judgement and initiative in managing contact with management.
**Education and skills required**:
- Post-Secondary degree/diploma Child/youth related field (e.g. Child and Youth, Social Service Worker, Social Worker, Psychology, Sociology) or the equivalent combination of education and experience working with youth.
- Minimum of three years’ experience working with “at-risk” or street involved youth, plus at least one year supervisory or management experience.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification an asset and Current vulnerable sector screening (criminal background check).
- Car and valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract and insurance liability coverage at $2,000,000.
- Leadership skills, including motivation, delegation, coaching/mentoring and empowerment and the ability to motivate staff.
- Demonstrated extensive knowledge of working with youth, including understanding of the regulatory environment (e.g. CFSA).
- Demonstrated client focused counselling skills and role modelling.
- Must possess excellent communication skills and have the ability to be adaptable with a flexible approach taking into consideration the unique qualities of each client.
- Relationship building and management skills, to support relationships with peers, staff, partners and ministry officials and other stakeholders.
