**Join Our Team**
The School Chef works to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the School kitchen for the ultimate health, comfort and benefit of the students within the BHMS community. The School Chef oversees the operation and maintenance of the kitchen and the lunch program offered to BHMS students, ensuring an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and friendliness in which students may be served nutritious meals that are diverse and high in quality.
**Food Planning, Preparation and Delivery**
- Menu planning and preparation of all food for the lunch program catering to children 18 months to 14 years of age.
**Operations Management - Kitchen**
- Manages annual lunch program budget.
- Responsible for the purchase, management and security of food and supplies.
- Develops and maintains supplier contacts fostering strong and reliable working partnerships that align with the needs of the Bishop Hamilton Corporation.
- Manages the storage and care of foods and supplies including inventory.
- Daily cleaning and sterilization of kitchen including: dishes, utensils, bins, equipment, counters and storage areas.
- Maintains the highest standard of safety and cleanliness of the kitchen.
**Additional Duties**
- Support school events that may involve preparing meals, snacks or refreshments.
**Job Challenges**
The role of School Chef is a physically demanding job and involves working in a small kitchen. The delivery of food may require carrying food up 1 level of stairs. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
**Credentials / Certificates**
- Safe Food Handling
- Culinary Art Certification / degree
- Current Police Criminal Check
- Valid Driver’s License
**Hours**
Monday-Friday 8:30am to 3:30pm
Summer hours (July-August) 8:30am to 2:30pm
