With more than 60 years of experience, Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) is one of 36 Conservation Authorities in Ontario, created to safeguard and enhance the health and well-being of watershed communities through the protection and restoration of the natural environment and the ecological services the environment provides.

TRCA works to protect the integrity and health of the rivers and creeks in the jurisdiction, develop a system of green and natural spaces that sustains local ecosystems, and advance sustainable practices that improve people’s lives within our growing region.

**How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team**:

- Provide clear, concise technical advice, in accordance with prescribed delivery standards, to development and environmental assessment planners to ensure compliance with the Authority’s programs, policies and regulation requirements;
- Provide support to planners during site visits and meetings so that technical guidance provided to proponents and their consultants is in keeping with the Authority's programs, policies and regulation requirements;
- Identify regulated features such as watercourses and wetlands and delineate (stake) the limits of natural features in the field;
- Provide ecological interpretation of aquatic and terrestrial natural heritage information and provide technical assistance to internal staff implementing erosion, ecological restoration and
- TRCA land management projects.
- Maintain a current knowledge of ecosystem sciences, environmental policies, legislation, construction techniques and mitigation measures
- Provide assistance on special projects as directed by the Senior Planning Ecologist.

**What will you need to succeed**:

- University Degree in biology, ecology, natural resources management, environmental sciences or related disciplines.
- Valid Driver’s license.
- 3 years of experience related to the major tasks.
- Knowledge of ecosystem sciences, terrestrial and aquatic ecology, landscape ecology, environmental planning, and impact assessment.
- General knowledge of the Conservation Authorities Act, the Planning Act, the Environmental Assessment Act, the Endangered Species Act, the Fisheries Act, etc.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and supporting reports.
- General understanding of construction techniques and mitigation measures to prevent environmental damage.
- Critical thinking, analytical and conflict resolutions skills.
