Building Maintenance Technician

Position Summary
Reporting to the Cargo Operations Manager, the Building Maintenance Technician is responsible to perform repairs, as needed, in different areas of the Operation. It includes basic plumbing, basic electrical and basic carpentry. As well, some ground support equipment (e.g. de-ice equipment) shall also be maintained in order to support the operational needs of the business.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Perform basic Building Maintenance duties (e.g. plumbing, heating, electrical work, carpentry, etc.)
- Perform service and preventative maintenance on numerous ground support equipment including de-ice equipment, aircraft heaters and baggage/freight carts
- Perform preventive building maintenance to key areas related to operational efficiency and safety including normal and emergency lighting, doors and hangar doors, emergency exits, etc.
- Ability to determine, locate, and stock critical spare parts to prevent lengthy downtime of essential ground support equipment
- Computer skills necessary to set up maintenance schedules search and locate equipment parts, service providers and service manuals
- Troubleshooting skills and ability to read manuals, drawings, and schematics are essential
- Travel to remote sites as necessary to facilitate and carry out repairs to company equipment within a timely manner
- Coordinate and liaise with the Thompson base Building and Equipment Maintenance Technician, assisting with troubleshooting techniques/part orders/manual references and service schedule lists
- Perform additional duties as assigned

Minimum Education, Experience and Certifications
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent
- Post-secondary education in any of the Trades, including Plumbing, Electrical, or Carpentry, or equivalent experience in a related field
- Minimum two years related experience in Building Maintenance
- Valid driver’s license required
- Must be able to obtain and maintain any applicable transportation security clearances and additional authorizations
- Aviation/Airline knowledge an asset but not required

Working Conditions
- Physically able to perform all listed job duties
- Travel by aircraft and other means as required by role
- Work performed both indoors and outdoors; employee must be able to adapt to all outdoor weather conditions
- On call 24/7 for building emergencies
- Subject to stairs and heights
- Handling supplies/parts that may be soiled with grease, oil and/or other chemicals
- Consistent lifting and moving up to 50 lbs
- Operation of loader/company vehicle when in airside in compliance with Winnipeg Airport Traffic Directives Rules and Regulations
