**JOB SUMMARY**:
Under the direction of the Child and Family Advocacy Manager, the Cultural Service Worker addresses the cultural needs of youth and young adults within the Post Majority Support Services.

This role focuses on delivering culturally relevant activities, traditional teachings, and ceremonies that promote cultural wellness and reconnection to Anishinabek traditions. The Cultural Service Worker collaborates with the Elder, Culture and other team members to ensure that services align with the cultural values of Sagamok Anishnawbek, supporting the social, emotional, and physical wellbeing of the youth and their families.

**POSITION DUTIES**:
**Cultural Service Responsibilities**
- Collaborate with the Culture Elder to provide culturally based activities for youth and young adults, integrating Anishnawbek traditions and teachings
- Plan, coordinate, and participate in therapeutic cultural, recreational, and social programming, emphasizing traditional Anishinabek practices
- Facilitate land-based activities both on-site and in the community, integrating cultural values, traditions, and ceremonies
- Support family and community engagement activities that promote independent living and life skill development
- Mentor youth and community helpers in cultural practices such as sweats, fasts, sacred circles, and traditional teachings

**Case Management Responsibilities**
- Maintain regular contact with clients, assisting with appointments, needs, and transportation as necessary
- Participate in case reviews and team meetings to ensure culturally appropriate service delivery
- Communicate effectively with service providers and participate in program evaluation processes

**Other Duties**
- Participate in internal or external committees as required or assigned
- Perform additional related duties in accordance with job responsibilities and department objectives
- Participate in training, cultural events, and other mandatory training as required
- Other duties as required or assigned

**TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**:

- Hold or be willing to secure, CPR and First Aid Certificate
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle for on-the-job use
- Able to travel on short notice
- Able to work flexible hours at short notice
- Sign and comply with an annual Oath of Confidentiality
- Act in accordance with Sagamok Anishnawbek’s Code of Ethics and always maintain confidentiality to protect the privacy of staff, and families
- Must provide a Criminal Records Check prior to commencing employment

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Minimum post-secondary education in Native Studies or a related Human Services field, with at least 3 years’ experience in cultural programming for youth
- Experience in delivering cultural programs for youth and young adults
- Knowledge and understanding of Sagamok Anishinabek community, traditions, values and culture, with the ability to integrate them into programming
- Understanding of issues affecting Sagamok Anishinabek youth/young adults and ability to provide culturally based programming
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to establish relationships
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and maintain confidentiality
- Ojibwe language proficiency is an asset
- A combination of education and traditional knowledge may be considered
