**Position Summary**:
As a Neurodiverse Support Educator, you will play a vital role in supporting the inclusion and success of children with neurodevelopmental differences, particularly autistic children, within our school-age childcare program. You will work collaboratively with children, families, and the program team to implement strategies that promote participation, independence, and positive social-emotional development. This position reports to the Center Supervisor.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**:

- **Individualized Support**: Provide one-on-one and small group support to children with neurodevelopmental differences, with a specific focus on autistic children, to facilitate their participation in program activities.
- **Implementation of Strategies**: Implement individualized support plans, strategies, and accommodations developed in collaboration with the program team, families, and any external professionals involved (e.g., therapists, behaviour consultants).
- **Sensory Support**: Create and maintain a supportive sensory environment, utilizing strategies and tools to help children manage sensory sensitivities and regulate their emotions.
- **Positive Behavior Support**: Utilize positive behavior support strategies to proactively address behaviors, promote self-regulation, and teach adaptive skills.
- **Communication Support**: Facilitate communication for children who use alternative communication methods (e.g., visual supports, communication devices), and support their social interactions with peers.
- **Activity Adaptation**: Adapt program activities and materials to meet the individual needs and abilities of children with neurodevelopmental differences, ensuring access and engagement for all.
- **Collaboration**: Collaborate closely with the program team, including the Center Supervisor, to share observations, provide feedback, and contribute to the development of individualized support plans.
- **Family Partnership**: Build positive and supportive relationships with families, providing regular communication and collaborating on strategies to support their child's development both at the center and at home.
- **Advocacy**: Advocate for the needs and rights of children with neurodevelopmental differences, promoting inclusion and understanding within the program and the wider community.
- **Professional Development**: Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills in supporting children with neurodevelopmental differences, particularly autism.
- **Adherence to Policies**: Implement operational policies of Projectkids, ensuring the program and facility meets all legal and other requirements as necessary
- **Documentation**: Maintain accurate records and documentation related to the support provided to children, including progress notes, observations, and any relevant data.

**Qualifications**:

- Early Childhood Education Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children with neurodevelopmental differences, _with significant experience supporting autistic children._
- Demonstrated knowledge of autism spectrum disorder and evidence-based practices for supporting autistic children.
- Strong understanding of sensory processing differences and strategies for sensory support.
- Experience with positive behavior support and strategies for managing challenging behaviors.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the inclusion and success of all children.
- High Five: PHCD 100 certificate (or willingness to obtain).
- First Aid and CPR certification (required).
- Food Safe certification (required).
- Knowledge of and ability to adhere to Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR).
- Knowledge of group process, facilitation techniques, and team building.

**Additional Information**:
This position requires the ability to manage a high level of noise and distractions. You will need to pay close attention to families and their stresses. Direct delivery may include moderate physical activity involving walking, standing, bending, and lifting children. The ability to function independently, under pressure, while managing emergency situations is an ongoing expectation of this position. Work may be outside normal office hours, starting relatively early in the morning or ending later in the evening. We believe in the inclusion of all children; therefore, this position
