We also offer paid time off over the holidays that is not included in your vacation allotment **Job Position** **Key areas of responsibility will include**: **_ Job Seeker Support(s):_** - Work collaboratively with job seekers using a person-centred approach, adding your creativity to uncover their strengths that they need to be successful in employment - Assess applicants' needs, provide assistance on goal setting and outline steps required to achieve goals; Develop and employment effective coaching strategies to help clients overcome employment-related challenges - Provide information on suitable skilled trades career paths based on participants' skills, qualifications, interests, and experience - Reviewing clients' resumes and suggesting improvements as needed - Developer and deliver professional presentation materials to deliver to individuals who are interested in or pursuing a skilled trades career **_ Employer Support(s):_** - Identifies common issues and innovative approaches to support skilled trades employers in finding, hiring, and onboarding apprentices; and - Tracks and reports on metrics. **_ Community Support(s):_** - Attend employer/labour market seminars, job fairs and networking meetings to gather information and establish connections with potential employer users of the website. - Prospect and establish relationships with employers and sector associations, in designated regions in Ontario, to promote hiring apprentices through the website; and **_ Other duties could include:_** - Assist with the creation of employer resources. - Identify areas of employer need to support the development of new proposals and projects; and - Maintain performance related statistical reports. **Key Competencies**: - Strong skills in building and maintaining successful relationships with a variety of stakeholders. - Technological competencies (for example, a comfort in learning about and using a proprietary platform, ability to make simple website changes in a platform similar to WordPress, ability to generate reports using technology); - Proven ability to work effectively under pressure, to be part of a team, to be responsive and to meet deadlines; and - Interest and ability to work in a smaller-sized, not-for-profit organization. **Qualifications to succeed**: - Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma in Social Services, Career/Employment Counselling, Sales/Marketing or equivalent combination of education and industry experience. - Experience in the employment field with a history of developing relationships with employers. - Experience within non-for-profit organizations is an asset - Knowledge and experience related to the apprenticeship system and the skilled trades in Ontario and other jurisdictions. - A working knowledge of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), the Ontario Works Act, Employment Standards Act, and Human Rights Legislation. - Possess a valid driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance, willing to do some travelling. - Proficient in the use of computer software i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet; and - Experience creating and delivering presentations. **Working Conditions** - Typical office hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, with some requirement to work additional hours, occasionally during evenings and weekends (up to 44 hours per week) - Currently work is remote/from home, with a planned return to work in our Burlington office when it is safe to do so. - Required to travel within Ontario for presentations, partnership meetings, trade shows, conferences, etc. - As a condition of employment, HIEC requires individuals to be "fully vaccinated" (as defined by the Government of Ontario), against COVID-19 prior to commencing employment.
