**1-Year Contract (with potential to become permanent)**

**Position Summary**:
The Food Handler is responsible for assisting the Kitchen Administrator in all aspects of the food services for the Children’s Centre and School Age programs. All aspects of the Food Handlers position will be performed while working within the framework of the Vision, Mission and Value Statements of Milestones Children’s Centre.
- Assist in preparing four-week rotating menus for May and November annually, taking the Canadian Food Guide and MCC policies and procedures into consideration
- Record temperatures for appliances and food daily
- Record menu changes as required
- Assist in preparing accurate grocery lists for the purchase of food
- Monitor food inventory and rotate as necessary
- Assist in the order or purchase food or supplies weekly, bi-weekly or as needed
- Assist in maintaining recipes in an organized manner
- Follow the health regulations as defined in the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014, the Elgin-St. Thomas Health Unit, the Fire Department and MCC policies and procedures
- Ensure that the kitchen is maintained in a clean and safe condition throughout the day
- Prepare all meals and snacks with the principals of safe food handling in mind
- Must be available to cover Kitchen Administrator shifts when needed

**Basic Requirements**:

- Safe Food Handling Certificate
- Experience working in a kitchen environment
- Valid Drivers License and own vehicle
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C
- Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check
- Ability to work in a fast paced, team environment

**Wage**: minimum $15.54/hour (starting wage determined based on experience)

**Hours**: 40 hours/week, morning and afternoon shifts, Monday through Friday. Additionally must attend monthly after hours staff meetings (approximately 1.75 hours per month) and participate in professional learning (4 additional hours per year)

**Start Date**: ASAP
