**About Potash**:
In 2021, BHP approved a CA$7.5 billion investment in Jansen Stage 1 in Saskatchewan, Canada, which is aligned with their strategy of growing exposure to future facing commodities in world-class assets. Potash opens a new front for growth and is an expandable resource that can support a century or more of operations. Potash provides BHP with greater diversification by commodity, country, and customer.
**Purpose**:
Reporting to the Head of Finance Business Partnership Potash, the **Manager Finance - Potash Operations Readiness** provides leadership to a team focused on delivering the necessary financial systems, processes, and organizational capabilities to enable the Operational Readiness of a new asset - the Jansen potash mine.
**About the Role**:
- Leads a team that identifies, engages, and manages a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders when it comes to Jansen operational readiness activities
- Develops finance-specific operational readiness plans / schedules and deliverables, evaluates finance systems / procedures for compliance with standards, and defines training / handover requirements to efficiently prepare the Jansen asset for operations
- Effectively collaborates with teams overseeing Jansen operations readiness while ensuring proper integration with the Jansen project execution team (collaboration includes engagements with Finance, Supply, Maintenance, Marketing, Human Resources, Production, and other Center of Excellence teams)
- Ensures a fixed asset framework has been formalized and all fixed assets have been appropriately categorized, valued, and created (in accordance with IFRS and Accounting Policy) prior to the Jansen asset becoming operational
- Employs specific / relevant finance expertise and leadership to meet BHP's technical 1SAP and PRIME standards
- Leads the execution of business operational readiness activities for PRIME go-live for the Potash Business - This includes working closely with stakeholders to design and build the driver-based cost planning model in SAP Analytics Cloud, complete SIT / UAT execution, and deliver all change management activities associated with deployment of the solution including end-user training
- Applies a commercial mindset to build and execute a credible and logically sequenced roadmap integrating multiple stakeholder and project requirements
- Builds strong stakeholder relationships both at practitioner and senior levels, influencing people with different agendas to adopt new concepts and different ways of working
- Applies an understanding of the business context and end-to-end value chain to deliver value-maximizing opportunities when supporting the operational readiness of the Jansen asset
- Holds internal and external teams to account and provides diligent management to control scope
- Achieves the performance objectives of Operational Readiness, including cost and schedule targets
- Support Potash Finance team’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, health & safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainable development
**About You**:
Pivotal experiences for the role:
- Minimum 7+ years’ experience in either Financial Reporting, Financial Accounting, or Finance Business Partner roles
- Proven ability to influence others, solve complex problems, and proactively identify opportunities based on a deeper understanding and knowledge base of the Finance function
- Previous experience managing a team of finance professionals
- Operational experience within the mining industry experience is required
- 1SAP and PRIME system knowledge and experience is required
- Project Management experience is highly desirable
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred
- Written and verbal English proficiency
