We are currently seeking a Contract Administrator/Construction Inspector (CA/CI) with 1 to 5 years of construction administration and field review experience. Contract administration involves making decisions and ensuring the timely flow of information and decisions to enable completion of the project as required by the contract documents, including onsite review and observation of the construction project.
Reporting to the Contract Administration Manager, the CA/CI is responsible for daily coordination of assigned projects, including periodic and full time site review to determine if the project is progressing in General Conformance with the drawings and specifications. As a CA/CI you will be required to liaise between the owner, contractor and all other project stake holders with regards to the discipline you represent. Other duties may include:
- Reviewing and commenting on constructability aspects of design drawings;
- Preparing tender and contract documents in support of design drawings;
- Assisting in contract negotiation and award processes;
- Organizing and chairing project stake holder meetings;
- Conducting onsite review and coordinating work with the client and contractor;
- Liaising with municipal and governing authorities as required in support of the contract;
- Preparing and issuing site inspection reports;
- Reviewing monthly contractor progress claims and issuing payment certificates;
- Reviewing, accessing and negotiating contractor change requests;
- Reviewing project as built information and assisting with letters of credit reduction;
The CA/CI must be available to work some evenings and weekends, as may be required to facilitate the inspection and administration requirements of their assigned projects. A valid driver’s license and regular access to a vehicle are mandatory in order to commute to project locations.
- 1-5 years of contract administration and construction review experience;
- Diploma in a related discipline;
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office 365;
- Ability to understand and interpret Contract Documents and Drawings;
- Knowledge of Construction materials, building trades, means and methods of the construction process, project scheduling, and the contractual obligations of sub-contractors, suppliers, and manufacturers through the construction process;
- Understanding of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety regulations;
- Strong coordination and organizational skills;
- High attention to detail and accuracy;
- Determination to set and manage priorities to meet all deadlines;
- Outstanding written and verbal communications skills;
