**Immersive Recreationist (full time 1 year contract with possibility of renewal)**

This is an incredible opportunity to lead extraordinary virtual and immersive programs for people living with dementia

If you’re a creative professional with experience in recreation and a strong skills in using technology who loves to bring joy to others, then this role is for you. You’ll lead the ongoing development of our state-of-the-art immersion room programming and help bring high quality virtual club experiences to our community.

Located in Patty’s Place, our dementia care centre, our immersion room is designed to bring unique and wonderful experiences to our “club members” living with dementia and their families. Explore the beach Travel to new destinations Use your skills and creativity to help them connect to their personal memories and lived experiences. Plus, you’ll also train other staff, volunteers and students to facilitate these experiences.

Our virtual club provides online content and experiences for club members, their families, and our community to access at home. You’ll[KM1]work with our highly skilled team to develop content that engages, delights, and entertains.

The individual will be required to work Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm with the occasional evening and weekend.

**Primary Functions**
- Develop and provide programming that utilizes the immersion room to engage and delight people living with dementia and their families.
- Collaborate with other team members to incorporate immersive programming into the daily recreation schedules at both Adult Day Programs located in Patty’s Place.
- Evaluate the immersion room programming to identify best practices and improve the participant experience.
- Create high quality video, audio and sensory content for use in the immersion room.
- Train other staff, volunteers and students in both the creation of immersion room content and how to lead immersion room programming.
- Maintains all of the A/V equipment associated with the immersion room and their role, recommending additional equipment and replacement as required.
- Assists in the creation and production of content for Acclaim Health’s virtual club for people living with dementia.
- Collaborates with partners across Canada in delivering and developing virtual content.
- Organizes and maintains the digital content library.
- Supports people living with dementia by engaging with them in a respectful, friendly and caring manner.
- Promotes client safety and minimizes client risk by adhering to Acclaim Health policies procedures.
- Supports the department and the organization by participating in events (internal and external), contributing to the implementation of annual plans and goals.
- Maintains client and family confidentiality.

**Experience and Skills**
- Excellent video/sound production skills
- Able to use a variety of audio/visual equipment (cameras, projectors)
- Demonstrated ability to connect with people through creative content
- Experience working with older adults and/or cognitively impaired persons
- Strong verbal and written communication, assessment and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated leadership ability
- Able to work collaboratively

**Qualifications and Education**

Recreational Therapy or Gerontology diploma and experience in video/sound production

**Plus**:

- Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a valid exemption
- Vulnerable Sector screening (criminal records check)
- Valid Ontario driver’s license
- Certification in Basic First Aid including CPR-Basic Rescuer

[KM1]I dunno if we want to include this, unless we plan to start up the Virtual Club again. Looks like Thanksgiving was our last update, and Im not even sure that wasn’t from LAST last thanksgiving. Maybe we should just put up content that can be accessed (non season specific) and then have this immersive section added if possible.
