Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Accounting Clerk assists in the preparation, processing and reporting of the hospital’s accounting function in a timely and accurate manner. This position will interface with internal and external contacts on a daily basis to provide or receive information, resolve issues and promote good service recipient relations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Process accounting data, ensuring it is complete, accurate and timely
- Support with completing monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations
- Completion of month end task related to closing the books and journal entries
- Point of contact for management inquiries related to finance questions.
- Regular review, audit and reconciliation of accounting information, ensuring compliance with Ministry of Health and GBGH’s policies, procedures and practices.
- Maintain organized and up to date filing systems for financial and accounting documents; ensure the confidentiality and security of all financial files.
- Provide support to the finance team as required

**Key Skills and Abilities**:

- Community College diploma in Finance or Business Administration
- A minimum of two years’ work experience in an automated accounting environment within the last 5 years.
- Sound grasp of accrual accounting and bookkeeping
- Able to read and interpret the purchasing and financial policies, procedures, and transactional documents.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Strong ability to organize and prioritize workload effectively to meet deadlines and demands in the presence of frequent interruptions.
- Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance

**Additional Assets**:

- Meditech experience
- Bilingual - English and French

**Hours of Work**:Permanent Casual. Mainly call in and vacation relief. Required to provide availability for a minimum of six (6) shifts per month. Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the CUPE collective agreement.

**Salary**:$25.10 - $25.58 an hour
