**JOB DESCRIPTION**
**Duties**:

- The Site Engineering & Commissioning department is responsible for the oiling, testing and
- commissioning of equipment on Capital projects pertaining to the transmission, distribution ,- travel to site for safe work observations of Technologists who test Reactive equipment. This- must be familiar with the various types of electrical equipment (up to and including 500kV) used in-
- troubleshooting, problem solving, executing contracts, design, and possess skills in project
- management and crew leadership of Unionized Move Up Technical employees.Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reports to the BC Hydro Site Engineering & Commissioning Department manager.
- Manages, leads, organizes, plans, schedules, oversees and supports a department of 10 or

more Move Up BC Hydro Switchgear Electrical Equipment Technologists and/or up to 40 3rd
- Party contractors. This includes the preparation/review of job packages and work procedures.- Review competency of employees and 3rd Party Contractors to ensure technical and safety

compatibility before work assignment scheduling- Responsible for the gassing (SF6 or mixed gas) and testing of new Switchgear equipment on

Capital projects on the BC Hydro electric system and Customer owned sites.- Through training and inspection, ensures that all phases of the gassing and testing work and

associated activities related to Capital projects are planned and carried out efficiently and
- effectively in terms of safety, quality, schedule, cost and scope.
- Provides leadership and ensures continuous employee safety measures are in effect.
- Liaises with Commissioning Engineers, SFO Field Operations, Generation Operations, FVO,

Construction Management, and Construction Services to ensure a collaborative effort is
- maintained in delivering Capital projects.- Manages the maintenance, upkeep, certification and calibration of the SEC department gassing

and testing assets.- Ensures that department deliverables are achieved regarding daily, weekly and monthly project

reporting and overtime reporting.- Provides technical guidance where applicable and ensures adequate technical reviews are

completed as required.- Assists in the development of business unit objectives, quality assurance standards,

performance measurements and assists in managing the gassing and testing operational
- performance to meet these objectives.- Negotiates contemplated work changes, Change Orders and Change Directives.
- Is the PSSP/WPP Manager for SEC Internal and SEC 3rd Party Contractors. Participates in the

PSSP/WPP committees and provides input on behalf of the Site Engineering & Commissioning
- department.- Conducts site visits to provide support to employees/external resources and to ensure all

applicable protocols, procedures, policies, standards, regulations, etc. are being met.- The position may be required to supervise the operations of multiple headquarters complete with

workshops, office facilities and fleet vehicles- Executes the asset plans, maximizing the commercial value and the efficient, safe, reliable,

profitable operation and maintenance of the assigned facilities/equipment- Provides leadership, organizes, plans, schedules and oversees the workload and operations of

employees and internal/external contractors engaged in the operations, maintenance, repair and
- installation of equipment at multiple HQ- Authorizes workers and contractors on WPP/PSSP system
- Reviews and provides updates to Local Operating Orders where required
- Provides input into system operating orders changes
- Generates reports, documents and correspondence related to the crew and department

functions. Provides direct supervision to Switchgear Electrical Equipment Technologists- Manages the implementation of safety programs and practices
- investigates safety incidents and accidents
- Ensures adherence to all environmental programs and responds appropriately to environmental

concerns in the substations and generating plants- Develops, administers and monitors OMA budget and capital program activities at the site level
