Job Description PROJECT COORDINATOR, MAJOR VESSELSFleet RenewalVictoriaThe OpportunityIn order to address the challenges brought on by constrained system capacity, aging major assets, and environmental sustainability, BC Ferries has recently launched a new Fleet Renewal organization that will see a large number of new major and minor vessels introduced to the fleet in the near term as well as significant builds and upgrades to shore-based infrastructure and facilities. These projects together form the largest capital investment in the company’s history.The Project Coordinator, Major Vessels supports the Program Manager and Project Managers in the procurement of BC Ferries’ Phase 1 New Major Vessels (NMV), which will replace four legacy major vessels currently in operation. They act as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including service providers, contractors, shipyards, regulatory authorities, vendors and internal BCFS services. They support business case development by gathering and consolidating required information, and prepare, issue and process service contracts and purchase orders; tracking commitments and payments; and receiving invoices. They coordinate with Supply Chain regarding purchase, shipping, delivery, and storage of materials for new vessels, and maintain project tools and Information Management databases such as SharePoint and Aquila PQMS. They also prepare, track, issue and close work orders in the electronic maintenance management system as well as organize scheduling of internal services and external contractors. In addition, they schedule On-Site Acceptance Team attendance in the shipyards and arranges travel documents and accommodations. This role may be required to travel/work abroad at shipyards for extended periods of time.The RoleReporting to the Program Manager, Major Vessels, this role is integral to the achievement of company objectives, and you contribute value through key areas of oversight such as:Coordinating schedule for on-site acceptance team in shipyard, to ensure inspection activities are successfully completed. Preparing procurement documents (Purchase Requisitions) for equipment, systems, and services. Receives goods and services and closes procurement activities.Preparing, tracking, and managing work orders for program activities.Supporting program and project managers by reporting on projects scope, schedule, and budget progress as required.Participating in design, construction, and safety meetings;maintains records as required.Supporting the development of project management plans, overseeing project controls, and generating project status reports on scope, cost, and scheduleManaging assigned project domains including Requirements Management, Communication Management, Cost Control and Schedule ManagementFacilitating reviews of ship design and construction drawings with internal resources and consultants and maintain shipyard quality control and test records.What you bring to the teamBachelor’s degree in engineering, applied science, business or commerce, or combination of relevant work experience and education.1-3 years of progressive experience in providing support to technical projects, preferably in a marine/technical environment.Working fluency in Mandarin is considered an asset.Join usIf this sounds like your next great career move, please submit your resume and cover letter by December 9, 2025.Additional InformationThe target salary range: $83,500 - $104,300 per annum.
