Your Opportunity:The Halvar Jonson Centre for Brain Injury is a 48-bed facility that provides care for patients with acquired brain injury through an interdisciplinary approach. The Therapy Assistant program is a progressive and expanding service with a commitment to professional development and excellence. Reporting to the Unit Manager and under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, the Therapy Assistant will implement individual and group interventions related to patients rehab goals, clean and prepare treatment spaces, order supplies, organize and manage storage spaces. Some support and clerical work may be required.This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. By applying on this posting, if you are the successful candidate, you agree to and will become an employee of Recovery Alberta.Description: As a Therapy Assistant, you will work both individually and as part of an interprofessional team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of an audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist or speech-language pathologist. You will contribute to effective and efficient rehabilitation services including direct and indirect client care across the health care continuum (healthy living, getting better, living with illness and disability, end of life care) for all ages as well as non-client service provision. This role will require you to work effectively with internal and external partners, and display professionalism and strong ethics in both client centered care and participation in care teams. You will demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and lifelong learning that enhances individual and team competency. You will have opportunities to use your interpersonal and clinical skills in contributing to quality improvement, program planning and student supervision. Required Qualifications: Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training may be considered.Additional Required Qualifications: You have strong communication and organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to work in an interdisciplinary team. You demonstrate excellent observation, organization, and communication skills. You can communicate findings in a concise and accurate manner. You have strong problem solving and interpersonal skills. CPR required –BLS for Health Care Providers Level C. Physically capable of carrying out this role which deals with heavy and complex patients and may involve transfers, mobility, and some transfers.Preferred Qualifications: Greater than three months experience working in an inpatient rehabilitation interdisciplinary team providing care for stroke and brain injured patients is desired.
