Position Summary This Clerk position, under the supervision of the Program Manager and/or Team Lead is responsible for clerical duties in the Home and Hemodialysis Units. The Clerk must have an understanding of the scope and responsibilities of the Regional Kidney Care Program Simcoe Muskoka. The Clerk is a member of the RKCP SM interdisciplinary team and is responsible for all clerical related duties in the program, which may include receiving and registering of patients to the program, maintaining patient charts, statistical data management, scheduling of appointments, answering phone calls and directing to all appropriated interdisciplinary team members. Qualifications • Completion of a Secondary School Diploma (Grade 12) required. • Medical Terminology course required. • Completion of a recognized post-secondary (Medical Administration, Medical Secretary) diploma preferred. • Knowledge of the Regional Kidney Care Program/Simcoe Muskoka and related programs and processes in the program preferred. • Knowledge of the Cerner Scheduling and Registration system • Experience in patient registration, discharge and outpatient bookings required. • Computer literacy and good working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software (ie. Word, Excel, Outlook, Access). Ability to learn new software systems (RDIS) • Keyboarding skills minimum 50 words per minute required. • Highly motivated and flexible with the ability to adapt quickly to new situations/challenges. • Ability to organize and prioritize workload, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines, and work as a productive team member. • Demonstrated ability to understand and demonstrate through performance, an acceptable level of ethical conduct and a thorough understanding of discretion and confidentiality. • Demonstrated excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills to interact with a range of individuals in a variety of situations, which require tact, discretion and confidentiality in relation to working with patients across the care continuum. • Excellent work performance and attendance record required. • The successful candidate will have a proven commitment to professional development as well as to the Mission and Vision of the Hospital.
