About Us:DASCH is a non-profit organization established in 1974 dedicated to exploring and meeting the residential, day program, respite and foster care needs of youth and adults. All our programs are based in Winnipeg. Our residential program consists of over 50 homes, our day services program consists of two day programs and our educational program called DASCHWorks supports people in finding and maintaining meaningful employment. People can participate in personalized social, educational, vocational, and recreational services that provide learning opportunities and greater independence. Learn more about our services at Position Summary Within the People Resources team, Safety & Health is responsible for the safety & health program, processing WCB claims, workplace accessibility, safety & health and respectful workplace investigations, and the return-to-work program. As part of a team, safety & health actively participates in problem solving situations that arise to ensure the department continues to meet the identity, goals and purpose of DASCH. Roles & Responsibilities Receive support and guidance from the Chief Human Resources Officer Process WCB claims within the statutory time limit and coordinate responses to related inquiries Develop and maintain a safety & health culture Ensure DASCH meets or exceeds all safety & health Legislative standards Update safety & health policies, procedures and manuals as needed Coordinate and oversee quarterly and annual safety & health inspections at all DASCH locations Monitor and support the safety & health committee Implement and monitor return-to-work program Investigate workplace safety & health and respectful workplace incidents, and help resolve refusal to work issues Ensure meeting accessibility legislative standards Ensure safety & health training is provided at the supervisor and worker level Work with the learning and development team to identify training needs related to disability management and workplace safety & health Acts consistently in the workplace according to basic values of honesty and openness Be flexible to new ideas, responsibilities and assignments Must be able to go to DASCH locations across Winnipeg as needed Skills & Qualifications Minimum one year experience in a safety & health position preferred Post-secondary degree in a health, human resources, or business-related field, degree/diploma in occupational health & safety Knowledge of safety legislation and return-to-work practices CRSP designation an asset Microsoft office proficiency A valid driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle during work hours is required Experience working with a Human Resources Information System (HRIS) is an asset You thrive in a fast paced and changing environment You enjoy working in a team environment and work effectively with others You handle sensitive matters with discretion and professionalism Work Hours: Full Time Monday to Friday 18-Month Term Wage: Annual Salary: $46, Employer-Paid Benefits: Two weeks' vacation after one year, paid with each paycheque Six sick or personal use days per calendar year, pro-rated Comprehensive employer-paid training Family health and dental coverage Employee and Family Assistance Program Paid mileage Optional RRSP and TFSA plans Thank you for your interest in DASCH; however, only successful candidates will be contacted.
