What you can expect from this position: Reporting to the Manager, Environmental Services, this position participates in the environmental management program at the airport focused on ensuring environmental compliance and reliability. Key Accountabilities: Participate in ISO 14001 Environmental Management System activities, including internal audits, document management, awareness training, and reporting on program targets. Implement water and soil sampling programs, provide input to procedures and schedules, and ensure integrity of sampling through coordination with external labs. Install, maintain, and calibrate automatic samplers; input data, analyze results, and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders. Operate and monitor stormwater and soil remediation facilities to ensure legal compliance; identify maintenance needs, coordinates contractors, and perform minor repairs. Develop and execute Environmental Compliance Audits, including on-site inspections, documentation reviews, interviews, and reporting; follow up on non-compliance issues. Manage hazardous substances programs, including PCB, halocarbon, storage tanks, asbestos, and building materials; provide training, maintain records, and liaise with external agencies. Respond to environmental emergencies by initiating contingency plans, coordinating with agencies and tenants, and updating emergency procedures. Operate and maintain air quality monitoring equipment, conduct indoor air quality investigations, and perform environmental assessments and emissions reporting under CEPA legislation. This unionized position is classified at the Band 7 level, with an hourly wage of $, based on a 37.5 hour work week. A test will be administered as a part of the competitive process. This is the role for you, if you have: Minimum 2 years of experience in the environmental management field. Auditing experience will be considered an asset. Valid class “G” Ontario Driver’s License. Ability to obtain a “D” Airside Vehicles Operator’s Permit (AVOP). Minimum 2 years of post-secondary education in a field related to environment. Ability to obtain and retain a Transport Security Clearance. Knowledge and skills you bring, that set you up for success: Strong communication skills (oral, written and listening) and must be able to establish and maintain interpersonal relationships, demonstrate tact, good judgment, initiative and discretion. Knowledge of: the practices and problems related to airport and aircraft operations; the relevant environmental Codes of Practice, Guidelines, Regulations and Acts. Ability to analyze and evaluate environmental data and to recommend an appropriate course of action. Knowledge of environmental sampling programs. Environmental auditing skills. Ability to lift heavy objects (manholes, catch-basins etc.) and work in confined spaces. Ability to work in adverse weather conditions. Ability to be on-call.
