Join our team todayJob descriptionWorking under the direction of the Diagnostic Imaging (DI) managers, the DI Modality Supervisor is an important member of the DI leadership team. Sound judgment and strong leadership abilities will enable the DI Modality Supervisor to lead and develop a team focused on delivering excellent patient care. The incumbent will support the manager in overseeing all aspects of modality operations including: quality management; staff productivity and human resource management; resolving issues and pursuing opportunities to ensure effective and efficient operations. The DI Modality Supervisor will develop and motivate a cohesive team, and will identify and support educational strategies to enhance staff knowledge with respect to professional practice and patient-centered care. The DI Modality Supervisor must build and continue to maintain dynamic and collaborative relationships across DI and with other clinical partners across the hospital(s).Accountabilities:Manages, organizes, assigns, and distributes workload among staff to ensure the department operates in a manner that is safe, efficient and responsive to volumes and outcomesDemonstrates effective decision making to enable adequate staffing and scheduling to handle daily workload requirements based on annual budgeted/funded volumes, financial, departmental goals etc.Ensures staff compliance with appropriate licensing body(s)Ensures safe-working practices for department and supports staff in completing annual mandatory eLearningEstablishes and monitors performance expectations, takes appropriate action in collaboration with manager, and human resources where appropriate, when expectations are not met and/or exceededCoaches and mentors staff to foster a positive atmosphere that supports team building, collaboration and shared learningDemonstrates an understanding of different levels of expertise (novice to expert) amongst staff and provides support accordinglyActs as a resource to team members and ensures information is communicated and circulated to team members and managementEnsures technologists understand and comply with new policies, procedures and performance standardsPerforms administrative responsibilities to improve processes/procedures and ensure an efficient and effective working environmentContributes to the development, implementation and maintenance of new/revised policies, procedures, protocols and performance standardsUndertakes planning activities that will advance the goals and objectives of the modalityDrives best practice standards for the modality; including staffing models, equipment utilization, and safety, based on evidenceDocuments problems and incidents when policies and procedures have not been observed and takes appropriate action(s) in collaboration with manager, as requiredBuilds and maintains professional relationships with key resource people, professionals, vendors, managers, and patientsContributes to performance improvement initiatives to facilitate changes in imaging practice and patient-centered care deliveryMaintains current knowledge of Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) to view, manipulate and archive digital medical images of data in final image formationAnticipates impacts of change on quality assurance procedures and initiates timely adaptations to ensure quality control is maintainedObserves, understands and ensures staff and departmental compliance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures, and with government legislationAdheres to hospital and departmental mission and value statementsComplies with and ensures compliance with the Regulated Health Professions Act, the Medical Radiation Technology Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and other relevant government guidelines, regulations and legislationComplies with and ensures compliance with and understanding of all relevant clinical and modality policiesJob qualificationsCompletion of a recognized Medical Radiation Sciences program requiredCompletion of specialty certificate in area of expertise preferredCompletion of a Basic Cardiac Life Support program for health care providers preferredCompletion of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant program preferredMinimum of five years recent X-Ray experience requiredPrevious leadership experience requiredUnderstanding of technical procedures, operations, and applications requiredRegistration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario requiredMembership with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists preferredEffective leadership skillsExcellent analytical, problem recognition and problem solving-skills with the ability to solve problems creativelyEffective organizational and time management skills with the ability to set prioritiesEffective verbal and written communication skillsAbility to multi-task and lead proficiently across sitesAbility to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment and work accurately under stressful conditionsAbility to work collaboratively and be client service oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at handDemonstrated ability to establish effective interpersonal relationships including effective collaboration with other leaders within the program and across the organizationDemonstrated effective leadership, planning and project management skillsExcellent oral, interpersonal and written communication skillsProven ability to establish positive relationshipsHighly motivated team playerEstablished reputation as a consultative, collaborative, coaching and mentoring style of leadershipRequired to travel and work at all Osler sitesMust demonstrate Osler's Values of Respect, Excellence, Service, Compassion, Innovation and CollaborationAdditional informationHours: Currently Days, 8 hours shifts, including weekends and statutory holidays as operationally required (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)SALARY:Minimum: $44.68 per hour Maximum: $57.33 per hourHOOPP Pension Plan: Secure Your Future with OslerWhen you join Osler, you're not just starting a job;
