We are a recognized leader in Patient and Family Centred Care. Our world‑class acute care facility with 425 beds serves the people of Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario. Our region has a population of over 250,000 residents scattered over a geographical area the size of France. We offer an expansive range of specialist services, and are designated as an academic health sciences centre. As a teaching hospital, we are proudly affiliated with Lakehead University and Confederation College and are a host training facility for students from the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, as well as other medical schools. Our facility has gained a worldwide reputation for its award‑winning, innovative design. It is not your typical hospital. Situated on a landscaped site of nearly 70 acres, our hospital was architecturally designed to provide a more inviting and less stressful atmosphere for patients, visitors, and staff. Thanks to support from our Health Sciences Foundation, leading‑edge technology and equipment enhance patient care. We are one of the largest employers in Thunder Bay with over 3,500 staff, 500 volunteers and 100 Patient Family Advisors. The annual operating budget is more than $300 million. Current programs within TBRHSC include: * Medicine (2A, 2B, Transitional Care Unit) * Cardiovascular (2C, Regional Stroke, Cardiac Cath Lab, Wound & Limb Preservation) * Surgical (3A, 3B, 3C, Neuro) * Emergency Department * Intensive Care Unit * Mental Health Services (Forensics, AMH) * Women & Children's Program (Labour & Delivery, Maternal Newborn, CAMHU) * Cancer Centre & Oncology Inpatient * Nursing Resource Team * Perioperative Services (Surgical Day Care, OR, Recovery Room) * Regional Northwest Renal Program * Outpatient Clinics Note: Vacancies will vary throughout the year across all programs. Community Commitment Program for Nurses TBRHSC is an approved participant in the Community Commitment Program for Nurses (CCPN) offered through Health Force Ontario. The CCPN provides a $25,000 incentive grant to eligible nurses in exchange for a 24‑month commitment to an eligible employer. Nurses may also be eligible for two new Northern incentives for nurses who make a two‑year commitment to an eligible employer in Northern Ontario. These are: * A Northern Top‑Up Grant of $10,000, paid in $5,000 instalments after four (4) and eight (8) months of employment with an eligible employer; and * A Northern Relocation Grant of $10,000, paid in $5,000 instalments upon confirmation that an eligible nurse has started employment and after four (4) months of employment with an eligible employer. Program Eligibility: * Not have been employed as a nurse in Ontario in the six months prior to being hired; * Hold a Certificate of Registration in good standing from the College of Nurses of Ontario; * Begin employment no later than March 31, 2025; * Commit to two‑years of employment at a full‑time work schedule offered by the employer; and * Not simultaneously receive funds from the Ministry of Health for the Tuition Support Program for Nurses. Any nurse may apply for this position, however only candidates that meet the criteria outlined above are eligible for the CCPN funding. Other Qualifications: * Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario, or the ability to become licensed with the College of Nurses of Ontario * Current certification in BCLS * Recent knowledge in Surgical Nursing with experience caring for pre and postoperative surgical patients with TPN, Neuraxial Analgesia, Patient Controlled Analgesia, Sequential compression device * Ability to use the Nursing Process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) in conjunction with her/his basic and ongoing knowledge to arrive at individualized care planning and delivery * Collaborates and provides consult to Registered Practice Nurse's when patients assigned to the RPN become unstable or have outcomes that are not as expected * Identify and recognize abnormal or unexpected patient responses and take appropriate action * Ability to simultaneously manage multiple nursing interventions * Strong interprofessional and communication skills * Central Venous Line Management Salary Range: $40.24 to 57.68 Employment Conditions: The Health Sciences Centre strives to ensure the safety and security of the patients, visitors, employees and assets financial and otherwise.
