Kinross’ comprehensive exploration and development program will aim to support the vision of a quality, high-grade, open-pit mine and a longer-term, sizeable underground mine.Job SummaryUnder the guidance of the Chief Geologist and the Great Bear Geology team, Core Technicians are positive, hardworking, team players who are responsible for supporting the Geology team through measuring, photographing, orienting, and moving/organizing core. Key Responsibilities and Duties• Organize & life core boxes. • Tech & Orient Core.• Seal sample bags for security.• Assist Geologist when required.• Check for errors, cut core as per proper procedure & checking for QA/QC samples.• Maintain good housekeeping at all times.• Grab sampling, as required.• Work in a healthy work environment with full support, cooperation, and commitment to satisfy our operation’s goal of being accident-free.• Support a work environment that is aligned with Kinross’ Safeground principles.• Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations, and legal requirements.• Adhere to all relevant corporate policies and procedures.• Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications and Skill RequirementsAn Ontario Secondary School Diploma or a GED is required.Previous Core Technician experience is an asset.Must be able to frequently lift upwards of 50lbs.Possess a valid Class G driver's license. Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather as required.Schedule and LocationThis position is located in Red Lake, Ontario. In this role, you will work a 7 days on, 7 days off rotation.This is a fixed-term position with a minimum term of 6 months.
