POSITION SUMMARYReporting to the assigned Manager, Security & Emergency Services, the Security and Emergency Program Advisor provides support for recommending strategies, procedures, and programs pertaining to emergency management and business continuity across the province of B.CThe position supports the development and coordination of corporate risk assessments, business impact analysis, planning workshops, and contributes to the creation of recovery strategies that ensure critical services remain operational during disruptions. The role also provides guidance and assistance with developing new plans, aligning with provincial frameworks and supports training, exercises, and post-incident evaluations to strengthen organizational resilience.CANDIDATE PROFILEThe successful candidate will have the following:EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:Bachelor’s degree in risk management, emergency management, business continuity management or other relevant field.Considerable experience in coordinating the implementation of business continuity,disaster response or recovery programs.Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience acceptable to the Employer. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Considerable knowledge of programs, practices and processes associated with business continuity, disaster recovery and emergency management, particularly in the areas of BCEMS, risk/threat assessment, and Business Impact Analysis.Sound knowledge and understanding of the Commission’s safety, security and emergency preparedness requirements for its housing developments and working knowledge and understanding of the Commission’s programs and operating requirements.Sound knowledge in program development, analysis, and evaluationConsiderable knowledge of building technology and Federal, Provincial, and Municipal codesExcellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and program/project coordination skillsExcellent communication, facilitation, conflict resolution, relationship management, and interpersonal skillsGood public speaking and presentation skillsExcellent computer skillsAbility to coordinate the implementation of program activities, analyze and solve issues, and make effective decisions, particularly during an emergency situationAbility to establish and maintain constructive working relationships with Commission staff, housing providers and government agenciesAbility to take ownership of tasks and drive them through to completionAbility to work under pressure during stressful and emergency situations in meeting deadlines and changing prioritiesAbility to work effectively in a variety of team settings and ability to work independentlyAbility to work extended hours during emergenciesAbility to travel throughout the province, sometimes with limited noticeValid BC Driver’s LicenceA Criminal Record Check is required.
