Description Crossing GuardJob Status: Continuous Part-TimePay & Grade: $21.00to $21.73HourlyBand:2Hours of Work:MondaytoFriday,8:00amto9:00am& 3:00pmto4:00pm (Initial location: Two locations – Activa @ Berry Moss & Block Line/Westmount AreaPosting period:November 25, 2025to December 2, 2025 (at 6:00pm)OverviewAs a Crossing Guard you will assist in the safe movement ofall pedestrians includingschool children crossing roadways at designated points by observing gaps in traffic, assuming right-of-way andindicating when it is safe to cross.ResponsibilitiesAssistsall pedestrians,including children as they commute to and from school,in safely crossing roadways and intersections by stopping vehicular traffic on roadways at designated points.Watches for gaps in traffic and walks children across the roadway or intersection while holding a "stop" sign in such a manner as to be visible to approaching vehicles.Advises children of unsafe behavior.Reports issues or incidents to supervisor.Performs other related duties as assigned.Requirements Equivalent to partial secondary school education.Up to 1 monthofrelated experiencesuch as customer service orexperienceworking/volunteeringwith others.A strong understanding of pedestrian road safety skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Able to work in a variety of weather conditions in all seasons.Able to work with youth.Provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Checkat your own expense as a condition of employment.Willing to undergo a medical check to ensure that the potential candidate is fit for duty as a condition of employment.Required access to reliable transportation and be able to travel to various locations across thecity.Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.Hours of work(may vary): MondaytoFriday,approximately 1 hour shift between8:00amto9:30am andapproximately 1 hour shift between 2:45 – 4:00 pmCurrently we are hiring for the following location:Activa@Berry Moss & Block Line/Westmount AreaDepartment/Division:Development Services, Transportation ServicesGroup:Non-Union/ManagementCompetition Number: 2025-246Job Code: 9251Number of positions: 2
