What your day to day will look like: You will be reporting into the President Manage a team of 6 Health and Safety team membersProvide leadership and management all members of the Health and Safety teamDemonstrate Health and Safety team to the organization, modelling appropriate behaviour while promoting a Safety cultureProvide Health and Safety team knowledge and coaching to internal stakeholders ensuring that they maintain an awareness of regulations and policies and are promoting a Safety culture within their own teamsWork with all members of the management team as a “trusted advisor” providing coaching and support as requiredSeek to find the root cause of challenges and present viable solutionsDevelop, update and manage all workplace safety procedures, programs and polices for the company.Consistently monitor and update the HSE policies and procedures in order to ensure compliance with legislation and create a safe work environmentPrepare and perform internal and external audits for COR certificationPerform site inspections as required, to ensure that all safety programs are implemented accordinglyProvide assistance to set up training for all employees on specialty programsImplement and maintain all HSE training programsImplement and maintain all HSE training programsEducate the organization on root causes and trends that arise from the incident investigation.Research and administer safety guidelines accordingly for implementation of the best safety policiesPractice and coach on Safety language and continue to evolve the Safety Culture What you'll need to succeed: A minimum of 7 years progressive experience in Health and Safety with previous experience in a leadership role is requiredMust possess outstanding knowledge of Occupational Safety legislation, and Health and Safety best practicesCompletion of post-secondary education in Health and Safety is preferredMust hold a CRSP designationMust be first aid certified and certified as a WHMIS instructorMust hold certification as an ASCA COR AuditorPrevious experience providing safety leadership in an environment with sub-contractors would be an assetWHIMIS Train the Trainer certification would be an assetUnderstanding of adult learning styles in an asset Our interview process: 20 minute preliminary phone interview with our Recruiter 20-40 minute assessment (depending on optional practice questions or breaks)30 minute MS Teams video interview with the Hiring Manager and direct Supervisor for the role  At Scandinavian Building Services we are an equal opportunity employer who values a diverse workplace.
