This 115-year-old, non-profit organization has an annual operating budget of over $70 million dollars and generates revenue through four activity streams:  the 15 day annual summer Fair which averages more than 700,000 people annually, Playland amusement park which welcomes 400,000 guests annually including Fright Nights, and a busy year-round portfolio of events including concerts, trade shows and film, cultural and community events.  In total we bring over 2 million people through the site each year. Our Facilities & Maintenance team works work under the direction of the Director, PNE Maintenance & Facility Operations and are responsible for site maintenance, and setup/teardown of events and janitorial tasks. They will provide direction and guidance to a small team on-site with a safety-first mindset and ensure all team members are working within Worksafe BC regulations and all other applicable legislation and company policies.What will you do this year?In your role as an Ice Official, your primary accountabilities will include:Operational Duties Service ice surfaces prior to games, during and between game periodsInspect nets, repair nets and move nets as necessarySweep, shovel, and scrape edges of the ice surfaceFill in with water where the Zamboni missesFill in holes and gouges in the ice, etc with slushClean peg holes for netsPlace nets after floodClean boards and board glass as necessaryReplace board glass during game if necessaryAssist with pre-game, post-game and between period events as necessaryKeep a clean and tidy work areaPerform other related duties as assigned What else? Experience working with ice surfaces is requiredMust be capable of working on and around the ice surfaceSuccessful completion of Grade 10 recommendedMust be capable of working at heights and lifting heavy materials up to WCB restrictions; and physically able to work in awkward positionsMust possess knowledge of the hazards and proper safety precautions related to the workMust be capable of reading, writing and speaking English for the purposes of written or oral instructions, timesheets and documentation of workAbility to work in front of a large crowdAbility to work in a quick and efficient mannerAbility to work a variety of shifts, including evening and weekend shifts as required Who are you?
