Your Opportunity:Cancer Care Alberta and the Department of Medical Physics in Calgary are seeking Radiation Oncology Medical Physicists to join our Radiation Medicine team. As a leader in Cancer Care, Research in North America and beyond you will join a vibrant clinical and academic team focused on excellence in cancer care. Reporting to the Director, Medical Physics at the Arthur Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre, this amazing opportunity will offer the successful applicant a unique complement of clinical service, research, academic, as well as teaching activity in partnership with the medical physics graduate and residency programs of the University of Calgary. This position will be based out of the state-of-the-art, centre in Calgary. A hub for research, innovation and integrated programs connected with the UofC campus and include 10 Linacs and 2 MR-Linacs with future growth to a total of 15 vaults. There are two MRIs dedicated for simulation and brachytherapy, as well as orthovoltage, a CT simulator, and a PET-CT simulator. Current and expanding clinical programs include brachytherapy, SBRT, TBI, pediatric oncology, stereotactic radiosurgery, and full integration of MR technology in precision care. Please note this posting will be used to fill 3 available positions (00196301, 00196306, 00160545) and will be eligible for relocation expense reimbursement in line with organizational policies.Description: We are looking for a Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist to join a growing Medical Physics department, including 21 medical physicists, 6 medical physics assistants, electronics group, design lab, and computer applications groups, as well as physics residents and graduate students. The Medical Physicist responsibilities can include commissioning, clinical development, quality assurance and support of our clinical programs in external beam radiotherapy (including specialized techniques including SRS and MRL) and brachytherapy. With expanding clinical programs, including integration of automation in clinical processes, adaptive radiotherapy and MR-based external beam and brachytherapy programs, there are many opportunities to contribute to improving the care of our patients in collaboration with colleagues in oncology and therapy. In addition to clinical activity, the Medical Physicists will contribute to the department's research and education programs. Opportunities could include mentoring, teaching, and research in conjunction with the CAMPEP-accredited graduate, residency, and certificate programs; leadership in clinical areas; research and clinical translation partnered with support for seeking granting opportunities. The Arthur Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre provides the opportunity to work alongside colleagues from numerous academic disciplines all focused on advancing the state of oncology research and care. Please note: The candidate will report to the Director of Medical Physics. Salary commensurate with experience and certification (MCCPM: $148,191-$198,312, FCCPM: $171,468-$229,463). Required Qualifications: Certification (or eligible for certification) by the Canadian College of Physicist in Medicine (CCPM) in Radiation Oncology Physics or equivalent. Graduate of a CAMPEP-accredited residency program. PhD in Medical Physics (or related). Demonstrated commitment to the highest clinical standards along with highly developed interpersonal, teamwork, organizational and leadership skills. Ability to work well with all members of the multi-disciplinary team.Additional Required Qualifications: Successful candidate will have strong communication skills (oral and written), as well as strong work ethic and ability to work in a team. Excellent problem-solving skills, clinical knowledge, organizational skills (including ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines effectively) are required. Must be able to meet the position's physical demands, environmental conditions (including radioactivity, strong magnetic fields) and psychological demands (including time pressures, working outside of the normal work day).Preferred Qualifications: Minimum 5 plus years of post-residency experience as a Medical Physicist. Fellow of Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine is an asset. Proven track record of clinical, academic and teaching excellence. Evidence of solid skills in teaching, coaching and mentoring. Good presentation skills.
